Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Idk, liking the s23 ultra price. I just don't put the sim card in and pay the bill for 4 months and the phone is unlocked, right?

Thanks. If that's the case, this is a lot better than Samsung; I would only get $350 in trade-in for my Note 20 Ultra 512gb. With this I get to keep my Note 20 Ultra for the same price.
People in the s22 deal thread at Best Buy going on a few months, were telling me N20U would not hold its value because its old phone but I see they were wrong, its still going strong - more money for N20U than s22

Thanks OP. Got the S23 Ultra 512GB for initial total $638 with tax

+ $80 for next 4 months of google fi service

+$7 new phone number to port in

-$230 for S20 Ultra 128GB trade in

= $495 Total

I would have paid $1K with tax if I went through Samsung! Their TIV are horrible this year

I believe the snapdragon next gen 2 chip is a big upgrade if you're after battery life, efficiency and performance alone as long as youre not overpaying like over samsung. Should last me the next 4 years. Memory upgrade for me is a plus.

Thought of going to pixel 7 pro or back on s21 Ultra before this as the S22 Ultra lags for me sometimes.

Why is the Fold 4 not an option for trade in? The Fold 3 offers $520 off. Anyone know how to get the Trade in option using a Fold 4?

Yes, I currently have the Play More plan. The price isn't bad, but Fi's is considerably less @$75/month for 3 lines. Am i missing something here?
U r comparing diff plans.ur current plan will be equivalent of Fi Unlimited plus which is $40/line

True. But I don't need the extras that the Play More plan offers. Even when you consider the $20 value of the Disney Bundle in the Verizon plan, I'm still ahead with the $75/month plan. Only caveat is the 35GB limit should be per line, not per plan.

With goog fi, trade in for note 20 ultra 5g is $450....that is because they wanted all "note" people especially the ultra ones with micro sd card to jump to newer model without additional memory slot. ....some of these people refuse to jump, due to "principle" ....though I'm not sure if there are other flagship models with micro sd slots.
I have a Note Ultra 5G 128 GB. They offered me $420

I doubt it. Because its currently being sold as new and more importantly its the latest generation in its class

Per Google support page:

Up to 35 GB of free, unmetered data. Data speed is slowed to 256 kbps after 35 GB of use per member. Video speeds may be optimized to DVD-quality 480p.

You may want to check with tmo first. Older grandfathered plan (one, one plus, simple plan...) may NOT be able to add new/future lines. For example if I cancel my fifth line (ie. 4 remains), I cannot add new line. If I cancel my 6th line (5 remains), I maybe able to add another line in future (though not a guarantee).
.....er, yeah...it's t-mobile billing/plans stuff
I just decided to do the Numberbarn trick that someone posted earlier and activate the Fi SIM with a $7 Numberbarn number then immediately remove the SIM and set it aside then cancel 4 months later.

I also realized I don't get Google One 10% off on Fi hardware purchases since they're not through the traditional Google store. Also realized my Z Fold 3 was a 256GB, so only $500 for trade-in. Basically, $150 for the phone before paying for the $20 a month service for 4 months and then the $7 Numberbarn number. $250-$255 probably for a S23U 512GB.
