Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Checkout page is confusing. Where the heck is the trade in value applied? I don't see it listed anywhere..
I doesn't get applied. They issue it in the form of a credit card refund after recieving your trade in.

I'm not worried about the phone locking, I know it's unlocked, didn't want data to turn on while setting up the phone and get charged the extra 10 bucks the first month.
be connected to wifi while setting up - i doubt youll get charged if you are connected to wifi and performing only initial setup. that would be VERY VERY scammy.

There are wayyyy too many pages to sort through. Can GV # be used for port-in considering it says it needs to be from a carrier with calling, voice, and data? My GV doesn't have data abilities that I know of. Also, does the $20/mo Flex plan count for the 120 days or does it need to be the $50/mo plan? Sorry if this has been answered. I just don't want to end up paying $1,200+ tax for this by making some rookie mistake. TIA

I agree, doesn't make sense. If I turn off my phone, it wouldn't be able to ping.

Looks like this promotion just opened up to Google Fi existing customer as well: https://fi.google.com/about/promo..._upgraders

How do I qualify for the discount?
An existing Fi customer is someone who currently has Fi service or whose last day of Fi service took place within the last 180 days.

For those that has Google Fi service now: Sign-In, go to Shop on left Pane, and you'll see the discounted Pre-orders available to you.

If I just add Google voice number to my email, will this number ok to be used for Fi Port in? Does the voice number has to be active for certain period? Any one know.

yeh, Samsung's trade in value with preorders directly from their webpage is so horrible. Come on 500 for a s22u? I remember my note 10 had better trade in value of like 600 for the s22u last year. Wake me up when trade in for the s22u is 1000+ free ear buds... lol.
With the recession samsung should have given 1k trade in value straight out of the gate...
Come Nov, Dec last year and first half of January their trade-in values were awesome. I'll give you an example. They valued Note 20 Ultra around 800$ plus you'd get
150$ store credit for total of 950$ if you wanted Fold4. Mid January that trade-in dropped to ~600$ and it's ~450$ now, and no store credit. This trade-in value is/was for Fold4 (Ultra prob, check it out). For all other phones in the lineup - it's less. Samsung often gives promos with stackable discounts, enhanced trade-ins, store credits and from my experience, you have to stay on top of it and regularly check their website.

Once you get a google voice number, it'll be locked to google, by default. You'll need to pay $3 ( at least that's what it used to be.. ) to have it unlocked ( you need to do this before it can be ported out )

Other than that little niggle, you're good!

Is the trade in value deposited back in the same card that the phone was purchased from? Or is it applied as future bill credits? I can't get a clear answer on this and the checkout page doesn't show one way or the other..
