Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Agree, all depends on individual usage! Here are the main advantage for S23+ for the $200/66% premium :

- Larger screens
- 15-20% more longer battery life
- 512GB vs 256GB (both with latest UFX 4.0 speed)

If you consider a larger screen an advantage... again, user dependent.

Wait, you mean to tell me I can put my Google Fi sim and my Metro sim when I get the phone and as long as I don't make any changes to my Fi service, it will be okay for the 120 days thing?
It only has a slot for 1 physical sim. One of the two sims would have to be e-sim. (If you wanted to use both services at the same time)

You can use Google fi sim and use esim for metro mobile. I did same for s22 plus. You can make metro sim primary.

So far so good for me. Just make sure you activate the phone with the Fi service first. When that's done, you can put the Metro SIM in. The big no-no is taking the Fi SIM out and putting it into another phone.

Can I be added to someone's account after purchasing this deal? Will it nullify the promo? I don't want to lose the discount over $2.5 savings..

Numberbarn, ebay, Tello, Google voice. Can you rate in terms of low risk? which option do you suggest?
In one of your posts, you mentioned buying TWO phones. If so, here's what I would do.
1. Use a Best Buy Fi SIM and a BYOD phone to sign up with Fi. The SIM costs $10 but you'll get $10 Fi credit with your 1st bill. The advantage is that you can chose a new Fi-assigned number, don't have to worry about port-in. Also, you can use someone's code to get $20 Fi credit, and also immediately have a code to give to your 2nd account. That's $40 Fi credit.
2. WAIT 48 HRS, then order the S23 as an existing member. When you activate the S23, service and billing of the BYOD Fi SIM will be transferred to the S23. No port-in needed.
3. Use another BB SIM and another BYOD phone, and activate the BB SIM with a new phone number, no port-in needed. Use the referral code from the 1st account to get $20 Fi credit.
4. Same as step 2.

Doing it like that, you don't have to worry about porting-in, and get a total of $60 in Fi credit. I checked and a two-line Flexible Plan costs $35/month, only $5 less than two separate Flex Plans, not much of a saving there.

Just make sure to wait at least 48 hrs after activating the BB SIM before ordering the S23.

I thought I read via Samsung that s23 models will have 2 physical slots along with eSIM support. I suppose it didn't really matter to me because my Pixel 7 Pro was activated via eSIM so I had a free slot.

EDIT: US version only 1 physical slot

*Availability of dual SIM may vary depending on country or carrier.

The US versions only have a slot for a single physical sim.

I don't want you to be right, but I think you are 😭 I double checked and the Samsung link was non-US. Thanks for the clarification.

Any idea how payment works for people that share FI accounts.

Basically, my company pays for my FI and their card is the Google Payment CC on file method .... I actually am the administrator for the account.

That said, I want to charge it to a different personal card, and receive any trade in back on a different personal card - BUT NOT switch the entire ongoing plan payment to a different card -- I want to keep the monthly payments on the company card.

Any persons deal with this? Multiple payment methods? Just wanted to ask since this hasn't been discussed so far.

Does it really matter though? I assume you're going to get the $20 plan since you already have metro. Just put the fi sim away.

I don't see why you couldn't. The trade in refund goes back to the card that was charged for the payment of the phone. Leave the company card listed as the primary payment for the account.

I read on this thread that people were charged $500+ for not using the Google Fi sim on the phone they buy every night? Then the wiki says you can just toss the fi sim in the drawer? What is the verdict?

Google will check your drawer nightly.
