Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I jumped on board. I needed a new phone and a new carrier.
I'm still on a Galaxy S9+ and showing some early signs of the display having issues.

I'm going to play this safe so after 4 months I may look for a cheaper monthly alternative.
$30-$40 is what I'm expecting from this.

You certainly can stash away the S23's Fi SIM after activating it and use another provider's SIM in the S23.

Syntax Error sounds like a programming fat-finger error. Do you work in IT?
Thanks, I think I'll try this route. Gonna head over to the local Best Buy to pick up an FI SIM card now.

And yes, I do work in IT. laugh out loud

Is "48hrs" the threshold for being considered a new vs existing customer?
We knew from posts in the S22 thread that waiting less than 48 hrs had a high chance of getting the activation recorded as "A New Member activated the SIM". At least nobody who waited at least 48 hrs had that problem.

feeling bad I upgraded to S22 by trading in iphone 11. when I could have gotten S23 instead. anyone if I can return S22 after the trade in is complete (and credit card refunded) and get S23 instead? This is assuming I can still return S22 though. I still have to complete 6 more days to go in the mandated 30 days for existing customer

nvm.. looks like I am well past the return for S22 :-(

Lots of arguing on Reddit on whether the phone has to "remain active".

Better to just use the Fi Sim plan you have, and not worry about voided promo.
Does "remain active" include having the phone turned on? I've done 5 Fi Deals since May last year, a few of them required 120 days. After activating a Fi phone, I made some test calls/texts then turned it off and put it back in the box. I have plenty of free phone lines so didn't need to use the Fi lines. The countdown continued ticking until the required days were met. Then I sold the phones in pristine condition.

I HATE Samsung's deceptive advertising on their web site. They always listed a high-end phone with very low price without clearly stating that the low price is after trading another high-end model.

I don't think there's much out there that can beat this offer if you're after a new phone like myself.

And the tmobile deal looks slick, but you need to get magenta max plan. i hae 5 lines on a grandfathered plan for 130, why would i pay 250 for 5 lines. and all the BS about billcredit ad stuff like that. I would even consider if the 150 credit was just discount of the phone, that would make it a 650 tradein. Nuts.

S23 vs Pixel 6A, which one is better?
S23 over the 6a, by a lot. Pixel 7? That can be argued.

Carrier locked is fine. Blacklist and/or account locked is not fine.

Debating on this one... if you do monthly payments and then opt to just pay it off after 120 days has passed is ok right? Like it seems to be a one time credit VS 24 months as far as I can tell.
