Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

On the surface this appears to be a great deal. But, look up the reviews of the Google Fi service. Their customer service is the worst in the industry. I tried to take advantage of a similar promotion on the s22. It took Google more than two weeks to ship the phone. Then the phone somehow got lost in transit. Google tried to charge me for the service. They would not ship a replacement phone. So, basically I was out $300 (promotion price at the time) Plus the cost of one month worth of service, which I never received because I never activated the Fi service since I didn't have the phone. After several attempts to get this cleared out with Google, I learned that they are totally useless when it comes to customer service. I thought disputing the charge with my credit company would get Google to take action. They still did nothing. My credit card company reversed to the charges back to Google. Beware. Any company but Google Fi.
That scenario could be with anything with any company. Your handset was documented to be "delivered" and anyone can claim they didn't receive the handset, and you expect them to send you a second one? With small price tag items, companies take yo7r word for it and refund you. But, this could be very easily prone to fraudulent claims. That's why I ordered this with option I checked "signature required" so I don't have to go thru with ups/FedEx where they left the phone in my building etc. So, I wouldn't entirely blame Google cs for this.

I currently have Fi with an unlocked Pixel 7. Looks like I can purchase this for $600. I would sell my Pixel and use my existing SIM card. Any issues with that?
The issue is that you didn't read all the warnings about not using a Fi SIM in another phone.

If you're buying the S23 as an active Fi member, activate the S23's SIM and it will ask if you want to transfer service from the P7 to the S23. Reply YES and it'll do the transfer. If your P7 is still under a promotion, wait until it has fulfilled its promotion before activating the S23.

Does anyone know how long we have until we have to send in the trade in phone? If I don't receive the S23 until 2/27, can I keep my trade in phone until the new one arrives?
They will send you a trade in box AFTER your S23 has shipped. You have 30 days from the time they sent the box to ship your trade in phone. But don't wait until the last day. Lately a trade in phone sent to Fi seems to take a roundabout trip by USPS before being delivered. Then it took Fi 5 to 7 days to inspect the phone and issue credits.

Is porting out of Tello an issue? Is it Verizon service or TMo service on Tello? Thanks

OK I got a Google Fi SIM card in-store and activated it in my current S22. Will wait the 48-72 hours as advised by a previous poster before purchasing the S23 Ultra on Google's end and will transfer the SIM over to the S23 Ultra to activate it there, then pop in my current AT&T SIM card and stuff the Google Fi SIM in the drawer,

Actually, I might end up using Google Fi when I go to Asia in a few months since it looks like it's just a flat $10/GB for international roaming which isn't bad and I don't use that much data while traveling anyways, so the Google Fi SIM might end up being more useful to me than expected.

Is it possible to convert a physical SIM to an eSIM on the same Google Fi account? Ideally I'd like to have my AT&T SIM as primary and Google Fi as an eSIM for international data as-needed without having to swap SIM cards physically all the time.
Do NOT swap Fi SIM. When you receive the S23, use Wifi to download the Fi app to the S23 then run the app to activate its SIM already installed in the phone. Since you bought the S23 as an existing member, the app will say that your current service is on another phone, do you want to transfer. Reply yes and it will transfer service from the BB SIM to the S23. Make some test calls and texts. Wait a few days to make sure the countdown days have started before removing the S23 SIM.

I don't think you can use Fi service outside of the US.

Fi service still doesn't work with the eSIM in the S22, not sure if the issue is the same with the S23. eSIM in the S22 does work with other providers.

Where did you sell it? I have 256GB, like new condition and can't even get $500 on FB marketplace.
To a local buyer on OfferUp. Yeah everyone else on OfferUp/Facebook was saying $500 and even $450 as well. You just gotta counter these fools - I had my phone listed at $650 while all the other listings were 700+

So with this being dual sim, could I use my main mobile carrier (verizon) and keep both sims in the phone for the 120 days?

Is it OK to factory reset the s23 after activating and removing the Fi sim?

Yes, this is my plan but the Verizon line will need to be eSIM and the Google Fi will be physical SIM.

IF it has dual SIM tray (some models do), then you can use two physical SIMs. Else, the Fi SIM will be a physical one and your Verizon service on eSIM.

Assuming the S23 comes with a physical SIM, you can reset the phone after activating and removing the Fi SIM. The Fi Pixel 7 came only with eSIM, and someone reported that resetting the phone cleared the eSIM and he had to reactivate it.

No issue porting out of tello (T-Mobile) other than losing great rates compared to Fi.

For low hassle good service tello can't be beat. I was pretty torn up when they messed up paygo but even now they are a great deal.
