Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I've used GV numbers for five Fi deals, even those with the clause that the number has to be from a carrier with voice and data services. I have no doubt that GV numbers can be used for port-in and qualify for the Fi promos that I do for myself. If anyone has doubt, then don't use it.
Your logic is
I have go 10 times over 20 mph in this school zone without once get caught
I am pretty sure it is safe if I continue speeding without ever getting a ticket or having an accident.
And I am sure everyone else can do the same unless you have doubt. Applause

You can stick to your opinion and I'll stick to mine. I offered my personal experience to others. Whether they want to do their deals based on my experience or not makes no difference to me. I gain/lose nothing from their actions.

I went through the process of ordering without completing the order. It asks for the number to be ported to see if it can be ported. I put my google voice number and it came back with a green check mark. So, I am suspecting Google Voice number can be ported for this deal. Any thoughts?
I think if you pay to port out the voice number on Google voice yeah?

A Fi account can have multiple members, each with their own Google account. Each member of a group can order one. Here's a link to the terms: https://fi.google.com/about/promo..._upgraders which states "For individual plans, limit one per person. For group plans, limit one per group plan member".

That depends on where you get your trade-in phone from. The possible choices are too numerous to list. Pick a phone with a trade-in value closest to the cost of the Fi phone that you want to buy (so you won't have too much excess Fi credit) then go shopping for a used one in good shape with the lowest cost.

If the GV number belongs to the same Google account that orders the phone, then there's no charge to port in. Else, you have to pay $3 to port in.

Me too, just trying to figure out how much time I have to get rid of them. I'm keeping a couple but have several extra to do something with. I do have a couple of XRs I got new from TracFone and going to keep those for the kids at this point. Crazy that they are essentially worthless. With AAL points at 500 the gravy train is over. I still have 6 unactivated phones to do something with.

So, looks like if someone purchased this on primary account Gmail A, but not using Gmail A GV, but porting in GV from Gmail B, then he must pay $3? What would be the process for it? What if both Gmail A and Gmail B are linked and both GV are linked to the same real phone number? Do they still require $3 "unlock" since Gmail A account bringing Gmail B GV on verified one phone number?

I don't use multi-member account myself, but I know that each member of a group plan has his/her own Google account, and each can order one discounted S23. If you don't already have a group plan and are thinking about asking strangers to join your group, be aware that you're responsible for paying the monthly group plan cost.

You can change the port-in number and its account info up until when you activate the S23. In fact, if the port-in fails at activation, you can contact Fi support and provide new number and/or account info.
What happens when you port in a number, let's say GV, and is activated, but the system detects its GV (somehow not qualified) or the number didn't have data before, and remove the promo, can you then have them change to a new number to qualify again for the promo and be put back on track? (It's a hypothetical question since I do not believe they have a cross check system to detect if the number had previously data on it?)

Will textnow number, without the data, slip thru the cracks? How about with data or textnow numbers would be rejected as pseudo service?
