Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

You can cancel on the 121st day or later without losing your promo. You need to wait until the Billing-->Fi Savings screen show you've completed the required days and the promo got moved from In Progress to Earned. See attachments below.

Usually, the 1st billing period starts 2 days after the phone was activated, and the following bills are on the same Day of the Month. So, after 4 months and some months having 31 days, the 121st day usually ends up a few days before the 5th billing period starts (we get short-changed with Feb having only 28 days). So you can cancel on the 121st day without paying the 5th bill.
Awesome..thank you so much. The screenshots are very helpful..I didnt know Fi tracks promotion like that.

If you port your GV number from GV to Fi, what happens to your old text messages and stuff in your GV account. Do they disappear? Or do you still have the GV account, but it has no number?

This would be a dual sim phone right? so in the "120 day" period can I use Fi as well as say Verizon on this phone? Problem is Tmo signal is not good around me & I have to use Verizon, Dont mind paying $20 for 3 months for basic plan - even if I dont use it

Does fi send a physical Sim with this set?
All my FI S22 phones came with the SIM already installed in the phones. I expect it'll be the same with the S23. The Fi Pixel 7 came without a physical SIM, so most people activated with its eSIM.

Yes, you can use the phone with another provider's service while using the S23's Fi service. I've seen some info claiming that US S23 models come with dual-SIM tray, but I doubt the Fi S23 will have it. It probably comes with a physical Fi SIM and you'll need to use an eSIM of the other provider.

Aren't you special for having to stay only 3 months? Big Grin Most of us are required to stay 4 months (120 days).

I would be super pissed if that happened to me. Did you order close to release day too? I'm undecided on whether I'm going to do this deal or just go through Best Buy (I tried ordering from Samsung directly and they canceled the order and nobody can tell me why).

Almost did this since Samsung tradein deal this time is terrible, but it seems like the benefit of going from S22U to S23U seems really small and I'd need to sell my phone myself, buy a new case, etc. Is there any real reason to upgrade?

If you don't like the battery life of your S22U, the S23U goes toe to toe with the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Otherwise, no.
