Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

This is not $600, it's $680 because you need to pay for the cheapest flex plan for 4 months or 120 days for a total of $80.
Don't forget to add about $6-$8 each month for taxes and fees. Still, most people will end up with a net cost less than what they could buy it for from other places. Even better if they can get a used iPhone11 for $150-$200 and trade it in for $310 refund/credit.

With referral it's $60 + taxes, and Data over Wi-Fi isn't nothing if you don't want to shell out for Fi data. A lot of folks are still working out of the house so Wi-Fi is fine. Cars have built in Navi and most Restaurants have Wi-fi. Hardly a deal breaker and many people taking advantage of this are keeping their non Fi phone plan / phone that can be used for data on the road if need be while they wait out the four months. That or after activation and the countdown begins one can swap out the SIM from their current phone plan. In my case Tello $11 a month. Yes some added cost, but very much worth it.

I wanted to get this deal but I did not want to port in a number so here's what I did.
I downloaded the Fi app, signed up for the $20 a month plan, and activated the plan with a new number on my current phone using E-SIM. My current phone allows you to use a second E-SIM along with your regular SIM card, and activating via E-SIM means you do not have to wait for a SIM card to come in the mail. I then pre-ordered the new phone with the discount. In the Fi app, under Fi Savings on the "In Progress" tab, it confirms that I am receiving the discount as a current Fi member, no porting required.
So you paid $20 to be a current fi user in order to avoid porting in a number?

It's a custom plan. If you buy the $5 500MB data only plan, you won't even pay taxes. https://tello.com/buy/custom_plans
Any issue porting in and out back to TMo? Can I port it out the same day I port in? Any restrictions? Thanks

$60? Do you mean $600? Is there a referral where the 4 months of service is free?

I'm not sure who is paying that much, I pay 48 cents tax a month on a 2gb Tello plan. Imagine that Kalifornia no less. How much more could it be for a $20 Fi plan?? Will find out soon enough, knock on wood. Yes that is just my case, but a lot of folks live in Kalifornia.

One month is free ($20) with referral, $60 over and above the price of the phone for four months for those that stay off data. My comment was to IFOUNDU and his statement that the $80 in service fees over four months was a waste.

I live in Kansas. Attached are screenshots of my bill for Jan this year. $20 plan, $0.01 data, the rest are taxes and fees. It's the fixed-amount fees that bump up the bill. Most people pay $6-$8 in taxes and fees for their $20 plan. I think someone posted a screenshot in this thread that they pay $10 in taxes and fees on a $20 Fi Plan.

You must be blind or a denier. Look at the screenshot in post #979 which shows a total of $10.24 in taxes & fees in that poster's bill for a $20 Fi plan.

Probably can't see the screenshots in my post above showing taxes and fees of $6.86 for a $20 Fi plan either.

I would be super pissed if that happened to me. Did you order close to release day too? I'm undecided on whether I'm going to do this deal or just go through Best Buy (I tried ordering from Samsung directly and they canceled the order and nobody can tell me why).
It was ordered like two days later last year iirc

Yeah i think thats what texas is now too. They jacked up the government taxes like 6 months ago with some texas thing related to raising money for the universal service fund or somethjng. Like one of the tax components went up 300 percent. All the more reason i stick with visible since its a flat cost. I know illinois wireless taxes are like the worst of all, something like 30 percent

My order from 2 days ago got canceled today. They sent me an email saying that "Unfortunately, your order was canceled because some of your information couldn't be processed. ".

I am an existing Fi customer. Chatted with their customer no-service rep and they basically read the email to me, but couldn't/wouldn't tell me what "information" couldn't be processed. I double-checked my address and cc info and even saw the pending charge on my cc (and reversal due to the cancelation), so I know everything was entered correctly.

Has this happened to anyone? Could I have been blacklisted somehow? I read about that happening in reddit...to some Fi customers for no apparent reason and Google CSR couldn't solve it.

I plug in my GV number and "Check number transfer eligibility" gave it a green check mark. My crystal balls say it will work just fine for this deal.

I also chatted with Google Fi support. Told them I have never been a Google Fi customer, but I do have a GV number. They said I do qualify for the offer.
