Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Cheaper alternatives are readily available.
With new service, yes. This is perhaps the best available trade in offer given youre getting $500 off plus whatever your trade in is. You also don't need to keep the service active vs carrier will lock them behind bill credits

Is there a reason so many people don't want to use the Google fi service? Was thinking of switching from Verizon
I switched from ATT to Google Fi in Atlanta for the s22 deal. After living with the phone for several months now, there are issues/differences that I do not like.

Voicemail, its odd that you have to click on the vm and then wait for it to be downloaded to hear or read it. ATT didn't do that, it was instant

Service. Coverage doesnt seem to be as good overall in the areas I drive/live (ITP for those that know the area)

Lastly, missed calls/text. I can have full signal and will not receive calls or text nor do I get a notice that I missed the call and never receive the text. It appears to be random and makes me wonder if it is a service issue or device though it works perfectly 95% of the time. No biggie for me but the girlfriend is developing issues thinking I am just not returning her calls etc. So I have to remind her to text me or send a email if she cant reach me. Sometimes it requires me to restart the phone when it happens for a few hours. Reaching out to tech has been less than easy.

I will be switching back to a deal with ATT or someone else in the next month or two.

Plug in your GV number ( checking porting eligibility ) and once you see the green check mark, screen shot and save it!

If.. *If* it comes down to Google denying the promo because of that issue ( I seriously doubt it.. but ) you have proof that they ( Google ) approved the port eligibility!

Always take screen shots when enrolling in ANY promotional offers.. I took screenies of every step!
IF you took all these screen shots during the ordering process, then you can post the one about GV # not being eligible for this deal, as someone here requested.
The ACTUAL port in # eligibility is only done after activation.
Port in # only eligible if it's capable of all three, voice, texts, AND DATA.

In case anyone was wondering like I was, the S23 Ultra has less rounded edges than the S22 Ultra. Danny Widget's video on YouTube shows this difference quite clearly in a side profile comparison - S22U on the left, S23U on the right.

Personally I would prefer no screen curve but even this change is welcome to me in the S23U, IMO.

Also, the difference in profile will mean no S22U cases or screen protectors will be compatible. So if you were thinking of being cheap and trying to fit your old S22 accessories on, it won't work.

I'm with T-mobile and have exact same issues, so I would say it's service problem, not the phone. Those problems started in the past couple of moths, before that everything worked just fine.

I was going to jump on this but looks like a family plan only allows one phone per account.

Might have to go individually at $50 a month per person vs $20

Have 3 people

Is there a work around for this?

Anyone had success getting more than one phone?

I put an order in yesterday but it didn't ask me about a number I was bringing. Is this something I can just do once they send me the email about it shipping and such?

I was helping someone else with a regular S23 order and noticed it asked her so now I was just curious.

Doesn't add up.. a credit (hard-pull?) when paying outright and porting a number to a pre-paid service ( Fi ) ?
Nope.. I don't see anything at my end ( plus, my credit files are frozen )
Thanks. I will call the bank tomorrow to find out why.

Is it worth upgrading to S23U from S21U? What would be the biggest changes?

See some posts on page 87. (Someone called GoogleFi support and was explicitly told that GV # porting is not allowed for this deal.)

Also see my posts about using a GV # now to place the order BUT you can edit that # and replace it with a valid port # after you receive the phone BUT BEFORE you do the activation as the port transfer will be done then.

So, you have the chance to use a valid port in # for this deal before activation.

If you ordered as an existing Fi member with an active line, service from your current line will be transferred to the S23 at activation. If you're not an existing Fi member with an active line and it didn't ask you about porting in, something is wrong. Time to contact Fi support.

Appreciate it, man. Sounds like I'm good and can use a prepaid sim. I just thought it was weird it didn't ask anything for me.

I had Fi a couple of years ago for about a month. But yeah there was no mention of asking what number I would bring. Maybe I'll reach out to them tomorrow. There was another post advising that I'd be able to change whatever number prior to activation so I thought I may be ok.
