Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

What's the point of this post?
They were probably saying they were an existing customer. They got a $1,400 phone for $600 bucks plus tax.

They were taking advantage of the deal. And I guess they had no trading.

That is allowed, right ? people can chime in when they take advantage of the deal? :-)

Yeah my base s22 battery sucks. But i did the thing to suspend execution of cached apps and turned off adaptive battery and that helped a little bit. And ram plus off.

im gonna do all of those things for my s23, plus turning on Light Performance mode, which was added with the flip 4. downclocks the cpu
Why not buy s8 used if you are turning off all those features?

Is this out of stock now?!
I just sold my 22 ultra ugh

also, as far as being a "new customer", can you just use a different google account and a different credit card or will they figure that out?

Absolutely but it would be nice if they post something that makes sense. Replying with a question to a post is allowed right? :-)

I intend to port my number and stay with Google Fi for at least a year. Is it OK if I order the phone and use the new SIM in my existing iPhone? I want to sell the S23U phone when I receive it and don't want to way for 6 months. Thanks.
I am aware that it is out of stock currently, but just in case they come back in stock.

You can't use the FI SIM in any other phone, if you do, they will charge you full price on the Galaxy S23

You must be using a different calendar. On my calendar, 120 days equal about 4 months.

THOSE WHO PLAN TO PORT GV #s THIS TIME:

When you go thru the phone ordering process there is a CLEAR WARNING that porting a GV # is NOT eligible for this deal.
Also GV #s do NOT have data, only voice and text.
Porting a GV # this time will be a very risky thing to do.

Weird there was a part during ordering to see if your number qualified. I did this with a GV number and it said it qualified. Where was the CLEAR warning? I may have missed it.

It looks like some Google support people may be confused by the normal port in policy that does not apply to this specific deal.
See this post:

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=161497138&postcount=1302

The screenshot below in post # 1416 above clearly states that GV # port in is ineligible for this specific deal.
I didn't see a GV warning - I did see a warning with verbiage about Tracfone however IIRC.

Here is a link in the disclaimer. The emphasis of the asterisks is mine.

How do I qualify for the discount?
You must be a new Fi customer. A new Fi customer is someone who has never had Fi service or someone whose last day of Fi service took place more than 180 days before making a purchase with this promotion.

To qualify for the full discount, you need to:

Purchase the device or currently be in a group plan with the purchaser.

Activate the phone on a full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation.

You must also bring/transfer your number to Fi within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email. ******** Numbers ported in must be from carriers that have calling, voice and data services. ******** Fi-to-Fi number transfers are not eligible.

I was going to jump on this but looks like a family plan only allows one phone per account.

Might have to go individually at $50 a month per person vs $20

Have 3 people

Is there a work around for this?

Anyone had success getting more than one phone?
I first chose the plan for 3 people at $75 per month. Then I chose the 3 Samsung phones. It seemed to allow me to buy three phones at discount.

That disclaimer has been on multiple past Fi deals that people ported a GV number to no problem and were eligible. Is there proof, at least one person that can say they got disqualified from a Fi promotion for port in a GV number? All I see is people saying they've done it without issues and people that have never done it saying it can't be done....
