Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I don't know.. I have ported 5 GV numbers to Fi but they belonged to the same accounts that ordered the phones. Never had to pay.
It's funny how it seems almost everyday you find a way to bring up your 5 GV numbers or 5 Google Fi phone deals.

We should turn it into a drinking game where everyone drinks each time you bring it up.

Haha. So entertaining. Wink

Cheers!

sorry to hear....I have been using them for the last 2 years....never had a problem.
If you have been constantly using them for 2 years then you may not see a problem. My problem was I never used them, I just ordered a sim kit and never activated it and cancelled all auto renewal stuff but they kept hammering my card for 3 months.

I'm doing the same for this deal. Saved my screenshots and chat conversation with Support stating it's allowed.

Don't even have to pay $3 if GV number belongs to same account that orders the phone.
Darn, I forgot about that. I endup pulling a burner GV number on a burner gmail for junkmail and newsletters.
But $3 is still much better than other options in the grand scheme of things so I'm content.

So their data only sims on the $64 plan are free? I can pop them into my kids phone to watch Netflix in the car?
Yup - up to 4 per account.

"the phone must be activated within 30 days of shipment, and must remain in good standing on a full service plan for at least 120 days."

I want to know what is the best way to handle this.

Two phones arriving on different dates. One by 13th of this month and the other by March 17th

I have 3 lines to port and cancel service with TMobile.

All should be on same day to start the plan but it is their shipping date that is going to mess up the window for activation.

I can't have people w/o service or pay outrageous to keep one line open with TMobile

Thoughts? How to deal with this?
I'm in the same boat as you, flip4 shipped yesterday, another arriving 3/3-3/10. Maybe you can activate it individually with $20 plan and do the drawer thing while keeping tmobile (just for 4 months, you lose discount deal), or you can always return the device, has to be within 14 days of delivery though. Does anyone have more info?

I hope not. Samsung site still has the Feb 17 delivery when you order the S23U unlocked. I hope it's just an error on Google's end.

If you go to Google Fi account, look for "Number ready for transfer" and click "Update Info"

It should then give you the option to change the phone # you want to port in from.
I cannot login to my Fi account.

Everytime I do it keeps showing me a screen where I have a plan selected and is asking me to select a phone.

Any idea how to get logged in?

It might be true. Last year samsung had phones preordered this far in start to arrive the next month(or even unavailable). However, last year samsung had way better trade deals, so the earlier ship date this year could show that people arent ordering from samsung directly this time. Could help that doing it via the providers(att, tmobile, etc) is more likely to work with their dedicated agents, rather than samsung general support, and also better deals.

Google fi's stock is likely also way smaller than samsung, and probably didnt anticipate the amount of people doing the fi method.

At the very least, if samsung somehow has an offer thats very good after launch, can cancel the order here and do that instead and likely get it sooner. But to do that, the trade in for s22 ultra would have to be 980 to beat this deal at its minimum: 600 plus 280 trade in, plus the 180 from storage increase, minus 80 for 4 months of fi. And i say minimum because you should be able to sell it for 400, maybe 500+ without issue. So assuming 500, the trade in would need to be 1200, which i highly doubt.

So speed vs value sadly

If someone can link to any good cases for S23U, would be so helpful
Well, cases are so varied. You've got slim, military grade drop protection, etc. An opinions vary on what people like and don't like about cases.

Sort of like you asking for a recommendation to go to a restaurant and not telling anyone what you like :-)

I like the military grade drop protection. So check out Amazon, poetic Spartan S23 ultra.

It's a $28 case. But it's a $1,400 phone
