Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Man, I keep getting to the checkout point and then it goes OOS every time.
Cant think, you have to click click click and submit. Thats whay I learned after trying unsuccessfully for 3 days. Finally ordered S23U about 2 hours ago. But I keep trying I prefer the S23+ for its smaller size. The 23U is huge for any pocket and my hands too (Pixel 7 Pro is too big and heavy for me)

Consider this
each promotion is tied to a google account when you use 1 account to activate more than 1 phone you most likely will get at most 1 discount or in the worst case you get no discount at all since moving sim to a different phone is know to void promotion and you might end up voiding all promotion
Good luck
What I meant is using different google account after initial setup and activating the sim card with the tied google (Sign in with tied google account, activate sim card then factory reset and use another google account for that phone for everyday use.)

And sounds like you can remove the sim , put it in the drawer, pay 4 months

AND use the S23 from Day 1 on another carrier.

AND dont put the Google SIM in another phone. Just keep in drawer for 4 months and pay for it. $23.82/mo for me including tax for line only no data.

At least that's what I am planning to do and someone confirmed this is OK and I can use the S23 from Day 1 with my curreny (Metro) carrier without impacting the promo. Still not 100% sure.
Yes. I think you got it right.

The promo code is $20 for one month. After that, I'll be paying $74 for 3 lines.

I am porting all 3 from tmobile. It is cheaper than my grandfathered account and just keep the $50 internet (I know some are getting it $20 cheaper but it is not available to existing customers)

I'll be losing the Netflix on us, but we can live without it.

The referral code gives you $20 Fi credit to apply to your 2nd bill, not getting one month of service (with multiple lines) for $20.

Good info, I think I'll go this route. Do you have to have a valid # to begin with for this?

Oh!

That's not what CS said when I asked. But you are probably right.

Tello is better and immediate. You don't have to wait for a sim from hello mobile. And tello supports esim allowing you to get your phone number instantly
