Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Is it okay to just grab a number from Google voice and use that or probably not?

Some ppl chatted with CS and were told GV doesn't qualify for this deal.
I have done a GV number transfer for the P7 deal and it works.
For yours deal I would do a dry run and input the GV number during checkout. If you get a green ✅, then it's good to go.
You can also change the number you want to port in after you order.

I weighed the merit and ultimately chose the Plus model. I'll explain the reason for my decision. In daily photo in good light and wide angle shoots smartphone camera performs well and it is when I'll use the camera from the phone. When I need to take long shots I always go with my small mirrorless camera and then transfer them wirelessly to my phone for editing and sharing. The 10x digital zoom may come in handy once a while when I didn't carry my mirrorless but it doesn't happen often for me and usually it's not an important shot.
The Ultra's image stabilization, especially for video recording, is a major advantage. However, I already have an Insta360 X3 for shooting video and I love the 360 stabilization and auto-tracking feature and there's no way I'll go back to a smartphone camera. (You can point to any direction during shooting and then in the post processing point to where you want. Amazing!)

The only thing I might miss from the Ultra is the extra 4GB of RAM, bringing it to a total of 12GB, compared to the Plus's 8GB. In my 6GB RAM S10e I always run screen overlay software and have experienced it being killed and having to restart it manually. The additional RAM in the Ultra may help prevent this from happening.

The main drawback of the U23 of course is the size, and for me more specifically it's the thickness. I own a 0.31 inch S10e and a 0.33 inch iPhone XR. I already know how much the 0.02 inch difference can affect how they fit in my jeans and how it make me reluctant to take the XR out with me. I will live with the thickness everyday when I carry the phone. I would much rather have the 0.30 inch Plus than the 0.35 inch Ultra. This is just a personal preference based on my own experiences and preference.

It's important to remember that everyone has different situations and preferences and it can be difficult to see things from someone else's perspective. Don't assume others are not doing then right thing when they didn't follow what for you is right. Instead, try to learn from different perspectives.
Now that I have my s23 ultra, I can weigh in. My last two phones over the last 4 years was S9 plus, and the s21 5G. Both of those phones have rounded corners

I noticed with the s23 ultra, because of the squared corners, the way I hold my phone puts a little more pressure in my palm of the hand. Minor issue.

The 30X optical zoom that I tried today was really worth the upgrade over the S23+

This seems like the best option, rather than sacrificing my T-Mobile legacy pay as you go account; I can actually use that phone number to verify accounts (verification codes). Something that google voice numbers won't do sometimes.

I've never actually ported-in or ported-out a number anywhere. What happens to the account at hello mobile after you port-out the number? Does it cancel itself? Do I have to cancel the account? Or how long do I keep it active? Apologies, I need to hear it from someone who's done it before. If not for this offer maybe for the one next year.

Okay wasn't sure if I would have to use the number I entered during checkout but I just entered the GV number I just made and it let it go through to payment so it should be okay!

Did you activate FI Sim then throw it in a drawer, and then insert your current sim(tmobile, Cricket, etc) ? If you did that, did you have to factory reset the phone before inserting current Sim ( Cricket, metro, etc, or just insert it ?

I didn't use the phone at all but others have with varying results. Check the P7 & S22 Fi deal threads.

Once your SIM card ships you will see the phone number listed under My Account->Lines. I just wish I would have ordered the phone once the number was listed on the Hello mobile account.
