Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

You are missing the point here, with Samsung deal the phone will be delivered on 17th. With Fi the wait for many folks is 2-4 weeks (estimates for my order is 03/07 - 03/14).

I posted the Samsung deal details thinking that it would be useful for someone who don't want to wait 2-4 weeks, willing to put some extra effort and don't mind paying bit more.
Most people don't mind waiting considering the deal they have gotten. Mine currently says 2/28-3/6. I am gonna assume most people that jumped on this deal would rather save the extra cash for a bit of wait time. I guess it depends on how desperately fast you need the phone. And if it's worth the extra cost to get it asap. 🤔

Can someone TLDR and tell me what the surefire safest way is to port-in? The community wiki is tossing in a bunch of information together and I'm not sure which one. Hello? Tello? Ebay Boost Mobile?
This is my first time ever pre-ordering and first time ever porting-in.
What happens during the 4 month contract Google Fi plan if the Boost Mobile Ebay numbers are only valid for 14 days? Or does putting it in a drawer prevent Google Fi from discovering that the Boost Mobile number got disabled during those 4 months?
What is TLDR?

Porting # ( tello, hello, boost mobile) has to be active at time of FI activation, they won't accept a suspended/invalid phone #, so wherever you are getting the porting #, make sure the number will be valid until you receive your phone and FI SIM

Correct. Once you hit your 120 days and get the blue check mark showing that you earned your discount credit you can then cancel. There is a timer in the FI app that tracks your days. Ideally wait a few days after your 120 days just to make sure the credit has been given.
Never used fi service before . Wouldn't we have to pay 5th month charge if we keep fi service beyond 120 days?

Fi lets you "pause" your service early so you wont be charged for the remainder of the month.

What is the thought on what this would sell for in four months? I was going to grab this but now thinking $700 in cost and maybe $850-900 after selling fees is it worth it? Not bad but just curious, am I missing something, thanks?

my 5th bill was a credit of a few bucks as my 120 days was up 2 days before that bill rolled out and I canceled.. hth Smilie so id assume you'd be credited for your unused days

Not worth it.
The S23 Ultra will cost you here $750.
Selling fees/shipping around $120, depending on the selling price.
You're already at around $850+.
Given that these S23 phones are given out to subscribers of all the 3 major cellular providers at very favorable terms, way below the $1200 MSRP, around $800 or so, or less, it'll be very difficult, if not impossible, to make money on these phones.
Especially as open boxes. And as the months go by, it'll get even less so.

So presently, buy these phones from Google Fi only if you intend to use them personally.

Why wait 4 months?

If it can be sold in the first month in a local sale, you can make some money (about $75 - $100).

True, one doesn't have to wait 4 months or even a week!
But this will still be an Open Box, not a Factory Sealed Box.

Also, if one sells a $900-$1200 phone locally with a buyer pickup thru Craigslist, etc., one better meet the buyer outside a police station or in a bank with lots of cameras around!!!
NOT outside/around your home!!!
And, better have a large friend as a backup with you!!!
And, better to deposit the $$$ in the bank before you leave!!!

Also, keep in mind that if it involves a <$950 transaction and the phone is stolen, in certain cities/states the police will not even bother with it.
