Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Its not about missing or losing my shipment. But the one who'll collect my shipment may not open it and activate the phone on my behalf.
The point of my post is to have whoever receives the shipment to open it and activate it for you.

Not only that, if you reorder now you'll get the trade-in value that was reduced significantly on Feb 6th.

Good afternoon everyone, just wanted to give thanks to all the ones who actually gave good intel and had prior experience with GFi, such as hpham_53. Now, I have a simple question, anyone know of a good case for the S23U that is less than $20? Have seen knockoff for the Ot.erB0x D3fender Pr0 in the S20U and 21 but nothing for 23 yet, anyone have ideas? or something close to that protection scheme? TIA
I've been using the Tech21 Evo Check cases for the past few generations of phones I've been on. It's more expensive, but IMO well worth it because it's very high quality and is the perfect balance of thinness and drop protection. Can't tell you how many times I've dropped my phones that by all rights should have cracked something or damaged the phone but because of the case came through unscathed. Pair it up with a good glass screen protector and you have pretty good 360 protection for the phone.

I already have my Tech21 Evo Check case and the Amfilm glass for the S23U sitting beside me on my desk so that the moment my phone comes in, it gets the case and screen protector applied.

Samsung was getting people to sign up for extra credit ($50?) Before the phones were announced. If we preorder via Fi, there is no way to receive this credit, right? In the past if you preorder from BB, say, there was a way to upload the receipt to receive the credit...

People aren't buying this to use FI. Most of them are gonna use it on other carriers. Device is sold unlocked.

When did you order? which color? what is your estimated order delivery date? what was the email subject?

Same. Was contacted to activate within 30 days of joining to avoid losing the promo. Ordered as a new customer on Feb 2, expected delivery March 3-7.

"Activate your Fi service today

We're excited that you've joined Google Fi. To activate your service, just open the Fi app on your phone.

If you signed up with a promotion, you have 30 days from signup to activate your service and receive your credit."

Google actually started the esim with Pixel 4 I think but Apple advocated for it as well.
Google did it so you can never get rid of the SIM and be 100% tracked.

Apple did it to spend less on warranty like it has been removing anything mechanical in the phone.
