Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Also Best buy charges $45 restocking fee if the box is opened.

I would probably just keep the box sealed until the Google Fi phone comes.

If I can figure that out.

You mean the $200 might come back as store credit? That's not a huge problem. But yeah, I thought it might be an issue. I suppose I could go in and ask.
You have to double check how the trade-in value is actually structured. In past TIV deals such as this, while you are getting $200 TIV, the deal once you go through with the actual transaction is structured as a coupon + a gift card (the amount of the gc is what they normally pay for your device). In the event of a return you would probably get only the gift card and the coupon value (probably a significant chunk of that $200) just goes away and is lost. In other words, you could end up basically trading in your Note8 to BB for the normal amount that they offer via trade. For example, if they normally offer $5 for your device via trade then you'll walk away with a $5 gc and not $200.

Depending on how rapidly the orders are coming in. Give it some time.
Mystery solved. The Google acct I used to purchase S23U had a diff contact email for google products. So it sent the order confirmation to that email. I didn't know this till I looked around. So first, I simply cancelled the S23U order. Then was looking around the account and that's when I noticed the contact email was the recovery email for this account. I updated the contact email to the same as the email on the account.

I just placed another order for S23U. Got the email confirmation right away. Hopefully, it didn't mess up anything else with Fi plan order. Hopefully, the referral code will still work and get me $20 credit for the next month.

Please let me know if I need to do something else before the pre-order window runs out. The billing starts after I activate the SIM card, correct?

When do you provide the port information besides the number? Like the PIN, carrier, etc.

That makes a lot of sense. Yeah, its TIV is normally $30. So I'd probably "lose" the $170.

Still, Google Fi is a better deal, so I'll probably do that instead.

Thanks

very unlikely that you would get full price back, because that would effectively meant that you sold Best Buy (or Best Buy bought) the old Note 8 for $200. Best you can hope for is a store credit.
My guess is they'll refund what you paid, minus $200 for the trade in. Then keep your old phone because it's already gone.

For those that received their tracking info, did Fi charged for your CC prior? I know the pending charges would've dropped by now.
Yes, they charged the card yesterday

I received shipment confirmation and tracking info but haven't seen a new charge/hold on my card (the original hold dropped off after a few days). I'd say that this could very well have more to do with how the card issuer (Amex) does things as I've had instances in the past with other merchants were the hold drops off a few days after purchase/placing the order, items are shipped, and then a day or two later the actual charge just posts.

Seems to depend heavily on the color you chose. Green seems to be the most popular, so it will take the longest (a few weeks).

Good thing I chose Black! I hope it ships soon! I'm a little late to the party so I don't even blame them if they take a while.
