Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Coming sat instead of fri. Sat in the fedex carol stream facility all day, until 11pm last night. 24 hours in that warehouse is too much time for an employee to open it and reseal it. fingers crossed for no empty boxes this year

I bought 2, replacing old S20+'s but honestly this is the 3rd iteration of the same look, and I'm not even getting a ram upgrade from S20+. Maybe 24 will be completely different.
But you are getting faster RAM / Flash storage memory so that's something.

I always asked the FedEx driver to give me a minute to open the package. They were happy to comply.

When I was ordering on Feb 4 my card got declined and got a text from bank to confirm it was me who attempted purchase, after confirming tried again and purchase went through, but now the charge dropped from my account, now my concern is, could this happen again when they try to charge me when the ship my order? or am I good since I confirmed de purchase on Feb 4, don't want to risk them canceling my order, is there a way I can pre approve de purchase?
I got a fraud alert from my bank overnight. Fi sent me email to update the payment info. How did you go about fixing this? I can't place a new order with the pre order promo being over. Thanks

Just wonder to know why no one mention Ting mobile? It is sold $1 in BestBuy and it has $30 credits
Because the one dollar Ting mobile Sim card deal gives you the $30 credit on your second month of service. So you must pay in full for your first month of service. Unfortunately it is slick marketing, yet the $30 credit on the second month is buried in the fine print.

I have a tello esim installed now just waiting for my phone to get here. I think its the quickest option instead of waiting for a sim card.

I plan on using Tello eSim. Waiting for the phone to ship before starting the plan. But I think a lot of people have phones that don't have eSim ability or they just aren't used to using it.
Quote from crimsona :
Is there anybody using Tello eSim to port? Why are so many people ordering a Hello physical sim instead?
Is Tello acct number the same as the phone number? Also, what reason do you specify to retrieve the account number? Thanks

I followed the prompts to update / resubmit the payment info after clicking the link in the email. It went through. Hopefully no more headaches. Thanks

It means the pre-authorization timed out and fell off. You will more than like see another one post when it reauthorizes the hold.

The S23 U shows up 2-27 and I have the Hello Mobile SIM, phone number and PIN, and was planning on using the S23 U to activate the Hello Mobile SIM. Any issues?
I don't want to have to wipe my curent phone (Flip 4) in order to activate the Hello SIM, but use the new phone to activate it instead.

When the Fi S23U phone shows up Feb 27, remove the Fi SIM and replace it with the Hello Mobile SIM and activate the Hello SIM. Wait a day or two, and enter the now activated Hello phone, account and PIN number into the Fi account. Remove the Hello SIM and insert the Fi SIM. Activate the Fi SIM using the Fi app. Verify Fi countdown to 120 days starts. Use preferes carrier's SIM from then on.

You can place the order now and use any cell phone number, as you can always change the phone number which you will be porting. Simply go into your Google fi account when you have the new number and put that in there as the new port number. You will also be able to add your account number and porting pin.

I received my hello mobile cell phone number when the Sim card shipped. I just signed into my account, and bam the phone number was there.
Where do you change the number on Google FI site? Been looking and can't seem to find it.

Edit, a snake would have bitten me. I found it.

Google Fi says my account is activated but as a new customer, but google Fi says my phone number is still being ported in. Can I switch Sims to my TMobile now or not yet?

numberbarn says the transfer is completed on their side where I got the number from just today.

That new number also works to call and text on my Google Fi sim today

maybe it takes a day for my Google Fi account to get updated?

That's a dangerous approach, I wouldn't try it, but if you do, keep us posted of the final result

Why do you have to wipe your phone to activate a SIM card? Makes no sense!
