Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

So,could I put the Google Fi Sim in a drawer and occupy both the physical and e-sim of the S23 with some of other carriers or should a sim slot be left free ?

You keep asking the same question every few hours.
All you have to do is read the FAQ on Tello, it's very self explanatory and follow steps written.
Stop acting like SD is customer service for Tello/Fi/Hello mobile!!

The S23 U shows up 2-27 and I have the Hello Mobile SIM, phone number and PIN, and was planning on using the S23 U to activate the Hello Mobile SIM. Any issues?
I don't want to have to wipe my curent phone (Flip 4) in order to activate the Hello SIM, but use the new phone to activate it instead.

When the Fi S23U phone shows up Feb 27, remove the Fi SIM and replace it with the Hello Mobile SIM and activate the Hello SIM. Wait a day or two, and enter the now activated Hello phone, account and PIN number into the Fi account. Remove the Hello SIM and insert the Fi SIM. Activate the Fi SIM using the Fi app. Verify Fi countdown to 120 days starts. Use preferes carrier's SIM from then on.
Are you a rock? Lol
Omg!! I'm pulling my hair while reading your crap!

That's only because it is not straightforward.

It's easy to get a service and a phone and call it a day.

The people are trying to get a phone for a discount without a long-term commitment to Google Fi.

So yeah, they want to make sure they don't f*** it up and have to pay full price. They just want a discounted phone on the service that they already have.

12 days ago, I sat down and read through all 75 pages, of this thread and saved important info into notepad. I felt confident enough to do it on my own. So did probably hundreds to thousands of people who have visited this thread and ordered this method, but haven't submitted a comment.

Yes. It works great. I did this with the s22 promo. But some things are annoying. If you get an mms text, or God forbid, get involved in a group text, you'll have to switch your data to Fi to download the texts. Also, I got 3 to 4 spam/bill collect calls on the t mobile line. The previous owner of the number evidently owed some people $. I wish there was a way to turn off the phone part of the t-mobile, but there wasn't. After 2 months, I was over it and just switched to a better Fi plan. Also when you go to make calls, you have to be sure it's calling from Fi. Just a lot of annoying things, but it's free and will work.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm concerned about Fi detecting the T-Mob eSIM and invalidating the promo discount. It probably won't do that, right?

alright folks. i just received the s23u from google fi a half hour ago today. set it up to transfer stuff from the old phone (a cracked s20fe5g, which will be traded in for this one), and activated my fi phone number.

this was the same fi number that i used to activate a fold 4, exactly 120 days ago. that $1000 off promotion was fully satisfied as of yesterday, and it was pretty easy to switch the number to this new phone. for what it's worth, the fold 4's status on fi's promotion page shows under the "Earned" tab instead of "In Progress", where it was last afternoon. so that's pretty good and satisfied.

i'll now wait up for a few hours to make sure the s23u promotion terms are fulfilled, and will then safeguard the fi sim, while using the regular tmobile sim in this new phone. i'm only waiting for fi.google.com to show that the "Activate the device within 50 days" step has been completed.

again, this is the same number as was activated w/ my fold 4 promo (which in turn was a google voice number i'd set up a couple of years ago). same number, two phones so far.

smoking hot deal.

correct. I have done this exactly in the past and plan to do again once my S23 lands. Verizon esim, Fi sim.

Not as long as you've properly fulfilled terms of the deal, by making sure you've activated the fi sim, placed a call or two, sent a message or two, etc., etc. No data consumption is needed.

I don't have any problems with people wanting to get a phone at a great discount and don't want to screw up the discount. However, most of the questions being asked now were already answered many times before. Yes, it's a long thread, but if the experienced users took the time to write up the answers then the inexperienced users are expected to take the time to read them. Instead, they want instant spoon-fed answers. If their time is too valuable to spend reading old posts, then my time is too valuable to answer the same questions over and over. The answers to many questions are in the Wiki for this deal. They don't have to search, just go there and read. If they want to search but don't know how, I've posted info on how to do a search too.
