Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Seems like there are two approaches

1) activate the fi sim with port in. Use it for a couple calls and texts. Wait a day or two. Then eject it and shelve it and use my other physical sim

2) same as as above but then disable physical sim and transfer your existing service to esim

Is there an advantage to either approach? Currently the service I'd like to use on my s23 ultra is on us mobile as a physical sim so I just go with option 1?

I ask as I didn't get the answer. You can simply answer the question or ignore my post. I know those things. If I do need to retrieve, I was asking what was the reason folks were using...this is just so that they don't block me in future.

You could also activate FI on the eSIM following the post https://slickdeals.net/f/16418272-google-fi-512gb-samsung-galaxy-s23-ultra-smartphone-pre-order-600-... That way you can use your physical SIM from another carrier and FI at the same time (or disable the eSIM). I have not done this myself before so do make sure FI is activated and counter has started.

Try calling Tello customer service or read the FAQ on the Tello website. I know it's radical and unheard of but just try doing it instead of b!tching on SD for the last 6 hours since you first asked your question.
How is anyone on SD supposed to know your account number and pin?
It's different for every account :duh:

To anyone who has received their phones already, (existing fi customers) , did it come with the sim card already installed inside the phone? or I have to switch my sim from my old phone to the S23U when it comes to activate it? Thank you..

I ordered mine 2/12 and it showed delivery between 2/28 and 3/6. It changed to 2/22-23.

I saw a few people comments, they said FI Sim came installed inside the phone, even though the phone came sealed

you are lucky, when I ordered on Feb 4 it showed a 3/8 to 3/15 delivery date, then it change to 3/2 to 3/8, hope it changes to an earlier date

Don't ever switch a Fi SIM into a phone that's not its original phone. If you ordered the S23 as a Fi member with an active line, download/run the Fi app on the S23 with its SIM already installed, log into the same account that ordered the phone. The app will say that your existing service is on another phone and ask for your permission to transfer service from the other phone to the S23. Reply YES, and it'll complete the transfer in less than a minute.
