Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Disabled mobile data before activation and activated on wifi still shows I used some data. Looks like will have to eat an additional $10.

PS: Ported GV number. Activation and port succesful but waiting on Fi saving progress bar to update. Fingers crossed!

Nope. Although activation tells you data must be turned on, once it detected that WiFi was also on it'd switch to using wifi. There's a very small of data used, and since data usage is prorated, the actual cost is $0.01 or less, most of the time Fi won't charge you for it. Only one time out of 5 activations that I got charged $0.01, the rest had no data charge.

I don't have any problems with people wanting to get a phone at a great discount and don't want to screw up the discount. However, most of the questions being asked now were already answered many times before. Yes, it's a long thread, but if the experienced users took the time to write up the answers then the inexperienced users are expected to take the time to read them. Instead, they want instant spoon-fed answers. If their time is too valuable to spend reading old posts, then my time is too valuable to answer the same questions over and over. The answers to many questions are in the Wiki for this deal. They don't have to search, just go there and read. If they want to search but don't know how, I've posted info on how to do a search too.
Great comment I ever seen in a while. Very valid and reasonable. I do have two follow-up questions: 1. Is the wiki the content right after the main content with title "community wiki"? 2. I have always wanted to know a feasible way to search inside a deal. Right now, I have to go through every single page and find the information I need. This is still faster than I ask a repeated question and wait for answer though. How do I make such a search with keywords? Do I go to the forum post to do so?

Thanks.

1. Yes, the Community Wiki is where any forum member can add helpful information. If you want to add something, scroll down to the end of the Wiki, click on Edit Contents and type in what you want to contribute.
2. How to search the thread (see post #2284) https://slickdeals.net/f/16418272-google-fi-512gb-samsung-galaxy-s23-ultra-smartphone-pre-order-600-more-w-activation-port-in-free-s-h?p=161661748#post161661748

For those that received their tracking info, did Fi charged for your CC prior? I know the pending charges would've dropped by now.

I saw a few people comments, they said FI Sim came installed inside the phone, even though the phone came sealed
I got a small note from Google Fi stating the sim is already installed and the box is sealed. I guest Samsung has a deal with Google to install the sim in advance.

To SEARCH A THREAD, note:

View the thread as a Forum Thread, NOT just as a Comments thread.
But in Comments thread option there is a small box on the top of the thread: View Forum Thread.
IF it is viewed as a Comments thread there is no Search This Thread option box on top.
IF it is viewed as a Forum Thread there is a Search This Thread option box on top right.

For instance if you search this thread for port in you'll get this:

https://slickdeals.net/newsearch.php?showposts=1&threadid=16418272&q=port+in

The results are listed newer to older

Do as an intelligent search as possible using appropriate terms.
As the old saying goes: Garbage in, Garbage out!

When one of those "Everyone gets a Trophy" types gets all these phony trophies and rises to occupy a Pilot's seat in an airliner how many would feel comfortable seating inside that aluminum tube???
Just asking....

Data charges are charged per megabyte I believe. It won't be much.
