Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Did you place your order after 2/16/2023 (when the storage upgrade offer ended)?

EDITED: never mind. Cross-posted with your post about ordering late.

UPS ground delivery for Fri 2/24. Hope they can make it by Friday.

Is it ok to port-in my number after activation with Fi SIM and their number? (it says port-in within 30days of shipment).
or Do you have to port-in number to start the 120 days counter?

Checked mine again, picked up in IL also but by FedEx Ground.
It's showing tomorrow by end of day on Fedex and order page.
Seems to be sitting in chicago now.
I guess I'll have it on hand tomorrow. That was much faster than I expected though.
Also showing 2lbs weight so hopefully everything is alright.

Haven't done it myself, but there were posters in the S22 thread who installed AT&T or T-mo eSIM to their Fi S22 phones and used it with or without the Fi physical SIM in place.
Ok so the use of a different carrier eSIM should be fine under this promo rt?

I mentioned before that it's less risky to do the port in during activation. You can use the phone before that, just don't install/run FI app.

What do you mean by "use phone" ? and why is it risky?

Risky because if you activate it with a new number it might take that not completing the "port-in" part of the deal. By using the phone I meant set it up and just use the device without SIM, when you get the number to port, run FI app to start the activation process.

I just got off from Google FI chat.

Agent said it's fine to activate then port-in later (as long as within 30 days of shipment email).
And remain active for 120 days of service (not from port-in).

I have seen it asked and did not see an answer. Any recommendations for a good screen protector that works for the Ultra? Thanks.

I'd 1. Activate the hello mobile on a different phone. Make a few calls/texts.
2. Activate the FI in s23U porting in the hello mobile number in the process.
3. Make sure FI is activated. Your FI.google.com should update in 24 hours and a countdown timer would start for 120 days. I'll then wait for the timer to go to 119.
3. Next, it's your choice to keep using FI or take the FI SIM out and put other carrier SIM in

anyone sent in their trade-in yet ?
My trade-in box from Fi to me is scheduled for delivery this Sat. I'll probably mail it back the same day to beat the flood of trade-in from other buyers.

It's a shame that Samsung does not install screen protector from factory anymore. You can try their official ones https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile...918ctegus/
