Receiving soon and I'm gonna do the same once the tick mark shows up. Are you formatting the phone as well? Please let me know once you finish the process.
Yes, I plan on formatting but I am nervous on what I can do and what I cant do that will mess it up. Can you format without losing the promo I would assume yes you can!

Question for any who has traded in a device with Google recently. I have used the prepaid shipping box sent by Google and dropped it off at USPS location on Feb 11. The only status provided by the tracking number is "USPS is now in possession of the item" on Feb 11 and it hasn't updated since. I opened a ticket with USPS online and have not heard back anything yet. I came across some old posts online on how the third party used by Google for trade-in bacth processes the phones and USPS status may not update until the third party processes the trade-in. Is this a typical time frame for the trade-in to be recieved or should I be worried USPS may have lost the shipment?
I did a trade in couple of weeks ago. It did a a few days to update on the USPS side but it went to black hole of Nashville TN distribution center. After that in a couple of days FI sent me an email about receiving the phone and approved for credit right after one another. It does seem a bit long to be sitting on USPS at your side though.

- The box is sealed but there was a sim already inserted inside the phone. I was expecting to see a dedicated card with Sim (in different sizes) came along and separate from the phone.
Since you're supposed to use the Fi SIM only in the phone that comes with it, and the only physical SIM that the S23 can accept is the nano, there's no point in providing SIMs in different sizes.

Countdown says 119 days left.

Do I

- Remove Fi Sim, use my T-mobile sim
- Keep Fi Sim, and use eSIM offered by T-mobile.
- Then switch eSIM -> Phsyical Nano SIM after 4 months?

All 3 options work. Just don't put sim in another phone ever unless it's that phone for any reason till you get rid of the plan.

How was the port out process with tello? Do you have to call or chat with their support or can this be done online?
Can be done entirely online. On the sidebar on the site there's a "Port out" option and then you check a random reason for porting out and they give you the account number. You enter the account number and 0000 or 000000 as the pin on Google Fi and you're set.

I'm not a group plan user, but wonder why/how Fi system allowed one person to order multiple phones (concurrently) with discount. Don't the promo terms say one order per single-plan user, and one order per each member of a group plan? I think the correct way is for each member of a group plan to order their own phone, and each phone ordered is shown in that member's Fi account. That would eliminate the confusing situation that you're having.
Agree…that would have made things simple…

Anyways, I was able to activate the device after chatting with agent. Agent said, devices are not linked with any number, so I can download the app and activate the device from each account on respective devices…

Now each line shows correct devices. Only not sure when the counter will start, as I see "Activate the device in 49 days" in my Fi Savings…

No need to format/reset.
Was thinking of formatting to get rid of bloatware. It would be a pain 4 months later after I set it up.

Yeah, it's a bit unclear. I found a previous post mentioning this but it was just speculating as well.

That's what I was going to reply initially that installing the app starts the linking but I was not sure. Good that CS rep confirmed it. The checkmark takes a day to appear.

If you are trying to uninstall Samsung bloatware, formatting would not help you as it will the restore the factory image which is the one with as Samsung bloatware. If you are thinking of removing career related bloatware, there's none from FI. You actually have to even install the FI app. You can flash an AOSP image but the you would loose a lot of Samsung customization. Samsung apps are very few and you can uninstall most of them at any time. I've been using FI galaxy s20 for last couple of years and it has very less bloat. You might want to install Google dialer for visual voicemail etc. Having said all that, I dont think formatting/reseting would void the promo

The counter should update in 24 hrs from activation, or overnight. I never could figure out why when a phone is ordered as an active Fi member, the "Activate the device in xx days" always shows more than 30 days. They must've added 30 to the remaining days in your current billing period or something but not quite. My current billing period ends 10 days from now. I received the phone today and the checklist says to activate in 48 days. Confused
