Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

The counter should update in 24 hrs from activation, or overnight. I never could figure out why when a phone is ordered as an active Fi member, the "Activate the device in xx days" always shows more than 30 days. They must've added 30 to the remaining days in your current billing period or something but not quite. My current billing period ends 10 days from now. I received the phone today and the checklist says to activate in 48 days. Confused
Thank you for your help and response 🙏

I looked up the IMEI of my coming base S23 which should have 256GB. The imei.info said it has 128GB, but I think that site just lists the lowest-capacity of each model (128GB for base S23 and 256GB for 23U). My phone is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I'll post the phone's actual capacity.
Got my base green S23 today. It has 256GB and 8GB RAM. The info at imei.info is not correct.

I think they just add a buffer for the shipping delays as they start the counter once(after a day) it ships. Mine has shipped on Feb 21st and the counter has started counting down from 49 days.

Anyone with Metro that is going to put in their SIM to their S23? I've read that their method of transferring SIMs between phones is a bit different. Sounds silly but just out of caution I'd like to know if anyone has had any issues with their Metro SIM and the S23.

Cannot swap a Metro Sim to different phones. Metro marries a phone's IMEI and a Sim's ICCD, no divorce!
Must call CS or go to a Metro store and provide the new phone's IMEI.
And there is a $20 new device activation, not waived but you can try.

Other MVNOs do this too.

You can use the Metro app on your old phone to change service to the new S23, after that you can just insert your metro sim into the S23, very easy and it's free

I received the phone today. Just a few things:

- The box is sealed but there was a sim already inserted inside the phone. I was expecting to see a dedicated card with Sim (in different sizes) came along and separate from the phone.
- Make sure you have all infomration for port-in updated under your Google Fi. Once when you have your Gmail signed in and Google Fi App installed on your phone, it simply fetch the data from there.
- I ported-in a Tello number and it takes only a few seconds. You can purchase an e-sim and number with data, minute, text from Tello for $6. In your Tello account's dashboard, all information regarding port-out is there.

I don't know where to find the counter, since there was nothing in Google Fi \ Billing \ Fi savings when I checked.

I will wait a few days more until I see the count-down moving, reset the phone, then start using my current plan with a sim from Boost Mobile.
can you setup phone with different gmail and then use different gmail to sign into Fi app? or does the Fi app automatically pickup the primary gmail used to setup the phone?

If you are trying to uninstall Samsung bloatware, formatting would not help you as it will the restore the factory image which is the one with as Samsung bloatware. If you are thinking of removing career related bloatware, there's none from FI. You actually have to even install the FI app. You can flash an AOSP image but the you would loose a lot of Samsung customization. Samsung apps are very few and you can uninstall most of them at any time. I've been using FI galaxy s20 for last couple of years and it has very less bloat. You might want to install Google dialer for visual voicemail etc. Having said all that, I dont think formatting/reseting would void the promo
Gotcha! Appreciate the help.

FedEx Home Delivery, which is part of Fedex Ground.
Assuming you chose the free shipping option.

Did anyone else use the $20 referral credit? I don't see it on my account anywhere. I believe it is a billing credit, but is there a counter for it too?

My progress -

Received phone today 2/23, earlier than expected. Ordered on 2/16. UPS threw carboard box over my patio gate on a concrete floor from about 6 feet high Frown

Luckily phone was intact and works great so far! Phantom black 512GB. I noticed what I thought were scuffs on the sides and top/bottom, but those just seem like plastic wrappings. Not sure if I should remove them or leave them be.

Ported over # from Tello. Was very easy and everything was online. Thanks for those above me that posted clear instructions.

Waiting for google fi to update with new phone # and start counter.

I usually get black. Green would've been nice. Red would've been awesome, but that was only a samsung website special. I put on a case right away anyway (Spigen tough armor), so color doesn't really matter anyway

Nope. You have to use the Gmail account you used for ordering for the promo to go to the next step. Don't use any other account.

Many if not most people here have done that.
