Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

-- It took a little over 2 hours for Google Fi to complete the back-end process of transferring my Boost Mobile number.

In all, a pretty smooth process. It was easier than I expected, and really the hardest part was just being patient and not worrying too much about the whole thing.

Nope, my countdown hasn't started, and my account doesn't reflect that a number has been transferred either. My understanding is that the progress boxes take a day to reflect those changes. For now, my account thinks I'm on step 2 still.

Different person, but I activated and ported from Hello Mobile today and still, none of the requirements haven't checked off for me either.

Pro Tip for anyone porting from Hello Mobile: Hello Mobile has port protection feature, you have to contact support and ask them to remove the feature otherwise any port attempts will fail. I was able to contact support and turn off the port protection feature via Support Chat in 10 minutes.

It's a mess over there at google right now. I got an email saying my payment was declined so I called them but they say it was cleared. Also not getting the check marks for activating and porting number over.

Ordered a S23U Black 512GB to NYC, placed the order on 2/12 with an original estimate 2/28 to 3/6. Card failed to charge first time, so I updated payment method around mid-day 2/13. Sometime between 2/22 and 2/23, the estimate changed to 2/28 to 3/1, and I was charged 2/23 around 3 PM EST, and it moved to Prepared to ship sometime later in the night. Ended up shipping via UPS (signature req'd, Addison. IL) 2/24 around 4 PM EST. Just in case anyone still cares, weight is 1lb. Plan to activate using a Tello # and then change out the SIM for my T-Mobile sim, thanks to everyone who's been providing helpful information in the comments!

Second that. I stepped on a phone that was face-down on small rocks. Splintered the glass protector. Phone was undamaged.

I had the exact question. Representative said the promo is good as long as the Google account being used to activate is a part of the group plan with me as the group owner.

So I called back later and spoke with a different rep. She told me that the other account just needed to be a part of my plan. So I did that, and now I actually have the countdown.
It's amazing how different answers can be from different reps.
