Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Anyone that use Hello, did you have to call their number to activate your sim? I've tried a couple times and it hangs up on me.
I'm assuming I need it to be activated before I can port it.
The weird thing is that I can text and call from the number just fine.
I just inserted the SIM card I was able to call and text and use data and it showed up on the website it seems like my account is active

I know it's been asked but can't find it, safe to pull out sim once I see the 4 check marks and 120 days or do most people wait for it to drop to 119?

Question 1: Fi on eSIM/eIMEI, previous (and to be main carrier) on regular SIM, is that an issue for fulfilling the requirement?

Versus throwing the Fi SIM (which implies a physical SIM) into a drawer.

Q2: If Fi is instead a phys SIM, can regular T-Mo post-paid be converted to the eSIM/eIMEI? And both operate to fulfill the Fi requirement.
I have T-Mo on the eSIM and transferred everything from my old phone. The Fi Sim is still in the slot but I turned it off. So far the countdown timer is still going.

I plan on potting in my number this Wednesday which is well in 30 days of the promotional offer. My question is if I connect wifi to the phone and use the internet/apps will that invalidate the offer?

Chat or call Google Fi CS and have them manually add the referral code to your account.
Many here have done that, it's not too late.
BUT, you must have a valid referral code.
Good Luck.

If you're asking about using the Fi S23 as a wifi device before activating it, that's not a problem. Once you've downloaded the Fi app to the phone and run the app to activate the pre-installed SIM with a port-in, it works just like any other cell phone. Just don't put the Fi SIM into another phone.

I used a referral during purchase. That account is no longer active. Is the referral still good or I need to get another one?
I believe both referring and referred accounts must remain active for 30 days after your phone's activation.

I'd wait until it shows 119 or less, to make sure it is counting down.

I have received the mobile yesterday and I will activate it today. Can I still use the fi referral to get that $20
Yes, you can still add the referral, just talk to customer service, it should work, search for a valid goggle fi referral

Apparently I used 0.01 GB of data when setting the phone up and now I will be charged for it (Using the $20 plan). Anyone know how much that would cost? 😅

BTW, my bill is $25.49 with fees added. Located in GA.

Unfortunately an extra $10. I didn't even use any data (according to the meter) and apparently I'm being hit with a data charge next month for it. I turned on the phone and it connected to mobile data during start up before I set the wifi up.

Hi, I bought the phone on a gmail account, but now want to activate it as part of a group plan on another gmail account. I am porting a number and intend to use the phone and the number. Can I activate it on another gmail account? Will it mess up the promotion? please post your thoughts. Thanks.

OK so after about 10 minutes of digging, it's basically $1 for every 100 MBs you use and so on. So 0.01 of data would be a penny if my math is right.

That's good to know. But still crappy that the data is automatically on during setup instead of giving an option before connection.
