Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Can I convert the Fi sim card to a esim somehow? Will it affect the promo?
If you want to use Fi eSIM, just remove the pre-installed Fi physical SIM and activate the S23 with its eSIM.

How is your old T-mo service related to the Fi S23 phone?

You can activate S23 using eSIM without affecting the promo?

The counter did also "start" before it showed. I activated/ported at 1:30pm my time yesterday. The activated and transferred check marks with 120 day counter appeared today around 8 or 9 am. At 11 am I switched sims. At 1:30 pm today the counter changed to 119 days.
Mine just switched to 119 days after it hit yesterday's activation time. Time to pull out the Fi sim...

What's the advantage of using a physical fi sim?

I currently have an esim, if the esim fails does it automatically swap to the physical?

When I did the Fi Pixel 7 deal in December, the P7 was not shipped with a physical SIM. Most people, including me, activated the P7 using its eSIM. Some people bought a Fi SIM from Best Buy, Amazon, etc and activated their P7 using the physical SIM. Either way was recognized and the countdown started. Confirm it with Fi Support before activating your S23 using its eSIM.

For people who plan to use their SIM from another provider with their S23, activating the physical Fi SIM then stash it away prevents the Fi SIM from using Data accidentally. If you have both the physical and eSIM active (regardless of which service is on eSIM or physical SIM), you need to manage the SIMs carefully so you won't accidentally use Data with the Fi SIM and get charged for it.

No advantage really besides for those who swaps phone often and physical sim makes it a lot simpler for those that swaps phones. eSIM for some carriers require a physical QR code (e.g. AT&T) and it's a hassle to get one.

Fi Support will most likely say S23 is not supported by eSIM, just like the S22. Curious to see if any users for the S23 activated on eSIM from start and countdown timer still works.

Well both screen protectors popped off as soon as the phone was fitted into the case.
One of the SP had a finger print circle that was very noticeable with the screen off and on, which was a no go for me.

So the search continues for a case and screen protector

What is the difference between super fast charging and super fast charging 2.0? My 45w and 65w chargers say super fast but 120w says super fast 2.0. Is there any speed difference??

No eSim? I didn't even check my phone and activation was fine.
I did not try eSIM as some people said there were problems on earlier threads. I also didn't want to use the GoogleFI lines, mostly I just wanted the discount on phone purchases.

I tried the regular ones and they don't work too well. They don't stick well and fingerprints don't work. Use the uv ones, I just installed mine about 30 mins ago. It was easy with the video. You can't even tell it's there and fingerprints work like they should. The glass is smooth and 100% clear, no border or fingerprint circle.

I haven't had a chance to test this on the phone yet (already struggling with the size but I think a grippy case could help...? suggestions/experiences welcome) but with the Tab S8 Plus, I've heard using a screen protector can wear down the tip of the S Pen pretty fast.
