Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Same here. My trade-in iPhone11 got to that local post office Sunday night. Was out for delivery Monday morning, never shown Delivered, and this morning shows Moving Through Network. Same thing with my previous trade-ins to Fi.

I received an empty box too. I asked the Fedex delivery guy to open it as the box was very light... He took it back and mentioned that he will return it to the sender as the shipment is damaged...

You have a voicemail tab in the bottom of the Phone app? Or are you talking about the separate Visual Voicemail app?

Something doesn't look right with your Fi Savings info. Usually, after the phone was shipped, there should be an entry at the bottom saying "Activate the phone within xx days". I ordered as an existing Fi member, so it says "Current Fi member....". For a new member, it says "(New member?) Active within xx days".

I was one of those who chatted with support before delivery to add referral code. Rep said he added it manually. My phone arrived yesterday, activated and ported, all checks (counter still at 120).

Where are you guys seeing referral/$20 credit? I know account has to be active for 30 days but others claiming they 'see' the discount and/or received an email. I neither see it nor did I receive an email (other then the chat transcript).

Check on the FI app, in the billing tab, there is an option where it says "share the fi love" it shows "you referred a friend , not yet eligible for credit (under 30 days)

It's in setting of google phone app. I think it's linked to Visual Voicemail app. In the setting of Visual voicemail, I see "You can access voicemail settings in the Google Fi app" with "OPEN GOOGLE FI" tab.

I think it's the visual voicemail app. So this is what I make sense with all these mess.

1. Visual voicemail is carrier specific service so that's why we need to hop between three apps; phone and voicemail and carrier apps.
2. I don't think we can have voicemail with the google phone app (unless somebody finds an apk which is hacked to support it) but instead we need to use samsung's visual voicemail app.
3. If we enable voicemail by text in the FI app, FI will do a speech to text in the backend and send you a text message with the translation.
4. Samsung's visual voicemail app does show the voicemails and a menu for playing it. I still don't see an automatic transcription though (which was there with the google phone apk in my S20). How are you seeing it?

That's for a referring member. Some people received the "Your $20 credit" email, some don't. But if a code was applied, credit will be given after 30 days of service.

I'm not sure. I didn't change any settings for my voicemail yet. When I did a test call, the visual voicemail app had the transcription there. I only did left very short voicemails, if that makes a difference.

I did use Smart Switch from my S22, so many some setting from there got transferred?
