Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I am logging into fi with my main gmail account and I swapped sim out after clock starting counting down and it continues to count down. all seems good. I even put fi sim back in and took out and went back to vzw sim. all good.

Awesome. I just dropped mine off to USPS today. Should be delivered Friday. Hoping there aren't any shenanigans in the inspection. Especially since the phone I sent was virtually brand new (Amazon Certified Premium).

Actually, Fi/the warehouse is quite lenient/generous with valuing the trade-in phones. In the S22 (or Pixel 7?) thread, there were people who mailed in phones with broken screen or broken back and got credited with value of a non-broken phone. They do have issues with phones that weren't reset before mailing in.

ok, so you turned off phone remove FI sim and inserted vzw sim without factory reset? did you delete the google FI app?

May be I am 1 among those very few unlucky folks.

- Received mobile S23U and did the setup (Port in completed) and the counter started ticking.
- Havent connected the charger yet, but the display blanked out the same day after the setup. Tried various troubleshooting methods but in vain
- Now working with Google Support team for a replacement.

Anyone else have faced this issue?

How does this work as far as the promo? Does the account let you keep the promo going with a replacement phone?
