Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

How does this work as far as the promo? Does the account let you keep the promo going with a replacement phone?
I am hoping so, had a chat with rep and they will keep a temp hold of the full amount on the card till the time they receive the faulty device. Once they receive the temp hold will be lifted

I activated my S23U with my Fi sim card. I am an existing user, so no porting here. But I am not seeing the status change under Fi Savings - "Activate the device within 44 days" is not checked. How long does it take to update?
My newly ordered Galaxy S23 Ultras have been activated for more than 4 days and the promo trigger of 120 days has not started either (bought the two phones on existing lines). Do you have multiple phones on different accounts (with the same address)? The first S23 Ultra started the countdown within a day after activation. Just checking to see if it is a bug, or if they only allow one per address, per name?

So did you remove the google FI sim with the phone on, and then factory reset?
I never used my phone after setting it up and testing with calls and texts. I turned it off after it since I had no need of Fi service. I checked online via Fi's website and realized that the counter just kept running. Then I removed sim, reset, put new sim in. Counter continues counting since then. I don't think it matters the phone on or off.

Since this is dual sim, I can just keep Google Fi active + another provider esim as primary, right?

I only bought one phone. Hope the countdown starts within 24 hours as others have stated.

1. After activation and phone port can I reset the phone and remove Google Fi app and Fi sim?

2. Or when can I start using another sim in the s23 ultra?

3. Can I take the sim to out of the US and use it?
1. Yes after making sure counter has started counting down.

3. Yes, FI provides free international roaming for data so you can use data outside US. For calls you would have pay international rates.

Thank you. I was confused why some were advising to activate and throw the sim in the drawer/uninstall Fi App/Reset phone etc when you can just use second esim slot for your other network.

If you keep the physical SIM there is a possibility that you can use some data by mistake if you are not too careful so putting it away saves you from that.

Some providers, like Tracfone, don't support eSIM on Samsung phones yet.

Strange my phone hasn't changed tracking info since midnight Tuesday morning. And now it's 8:30pm and still nothing. Stuck in carol stream IL. Stupid FedEx.
Left at 10pm last night my phone after being stuck for almost 24 hrs in carol stream. That to me is not good. Gives someone time to open it and swap.

Just found out Metro PCS supports eSIM on the S23. Has anyone here used that for their S23? I'd like to go with physical Fi SIM/Metro eSIM if possible.

My tracking info never changed from the day they told me it had been shipped. Scheduled to arrive Saturday. Then I finally got the EMPTY box on Monday.

Sounds like a FedEx inside job, not a rip off from the Distribution Center.
