Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I used a google voice phone number and the deal activated just fine. First I transfered a GV number to the same google account I signed up with FI. Then I input that number before the phone shipped out. It worked no problem and I didn't even have to pay $3. Absolutely free. After 24 hours, I deleted the FI app, put the FI sim in a drawer, reset my phone to factory for convenience of transfering my old phone data, inserted my Verizon sim and everything works great while the deal ticks down every day. All these people bugged me out saying the terms don't allow GV when google clearly allows it and in fact makes it one of the simplest ways to take advantage of this deal, all while being free.

Quick question, I dont think this was asked before!

I activated the S23U with Google Fi sim inside. Works fine.

Can I ADD my real number on Metro as the eSIM and have both numbers on the device?

Anyone else buy a Boost number off fleabay and upon using it to port into Fi it shows as a Sprint account? I'm going on 30 minutes on the transfer and still not ready for use. Apparently 15 minute transfers are more customary. I'm not sure if I was able to manually change the account to T-Mobile, or if I should have even tried?

EDIT: OK, a different screen that I went to on the phone to check for transfer status says it can take up to a day.
Yes, it went as Sprint. It took me about 1hour and a half before port went through. So give it some time.

I'm an idiot and didn't read the fine print on the eBay listing for the Boost number I bought to port over. The number was only valid for 14 days and it's been over a month.

I didn't realize this until now when I put the number into the Google Fi app to transfer it. Now I've been stuck in "Transferring Number" status for over 6 hours. Is there anyway to back out and redo the number transfer with a fresh number I'll buy off eBay? Or do I have to wait until the Fi app tells me the transfer didn't work?

I am mad at myself.

Because I understand a lot of Google Fi customers are still waiting on their pre-orders and since it seems every other Reddit forum has gone quiet on back-orders, this seems to be the only place where people are still talking about waiting for their phones so I hoped I might find a Verizoner or two in the same boat to see if they have any additional insight.

Peace
My mom ordered from Verizon s23 ultra. It went missing while in transit. She was doing a trade-in for $1000. So they had to cancel the phone since it was stolen/lost. And then told her they wouldn't do the trade in anymore and would charge her $1000 for the phone. Not a pleasant experience.

Is anyone's S23U running kinda hot? Mine started getting warm just from downloading apps. I just did a 2 minute video call, and I can feel the heat. I'm a bit worried mine might be defective. I have it in dark mode, and have blue-tooth and the "nearby device scanner" off.

Got my black 23U today. Trying to activate by porting from Tello. When I powered on the phone, it prompt to copy the data from another phone if needed. Can I try or just skip to continue the registration. just wanted to be careful to avoid voiding the deal. Thanks.

Yep, just skip it. Don't need to transfer anything.

I did the same, so don't feel like an all alone idiot 😄. I don't remember the fine print when I purchased it but I do see it now. Porting in limbo...ehhh

ONLY use Brave browser, its by far the best solution. No ads with no addons. Plus it blocks facebook and google tracking scripts and junk from all other websites so your browsing is faster and your battery lasts a lot longer. Also I have personally switched to Brave search to cut off Google as much as possible.

Never install addons and never install chrome on any devices if you can. If you need a second browser to remain logged int on a different google account use Brave Nightly so you have two concurrent browsers on different Google accounts.
Have you used firefox? I am curious how you would compare brave to firefox with ublock on?

No harm done. Contact Fi ( Chat works great ) and have them reset your current port in so you can start fresh with another number. I did it, and was done porting in within a few minutes!

The Fi chat rep stayed connected thru the whole process and even verified it all went thru ( the port in process was done and transferred within 5 minutes from Tello )

I have activated my U23 with Google fi sim two days ago.
Can I remove fi sim and put my total Verizon sim now?
Do I have to reset phone after putting my sim?
Do I have to delete fi app?
Or just putting new sim is fine?
Please help
Yes. Don't need to remove FI app and no need to reset.
