Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

Smartswitch only copies stuff from the sending phone to the receiving phone. It does not change/delete anything on the sending phone. After the sending phone shows COMPLETE, you can disconnect the sending phone and stop the Smartswitch app on that phone, but leave the app running on the receiving phone because it'll take time to repopulate the text threads, call log, apps, etc.
Thanks

Was the Pixel 7 Pro an unlocked device? Sounds like it was missing T-Mobile bands/frequencies (related to carrier aggregation)... I've personally experienced that with an unlocked Note-9 (from Hong Kong). I could be wrong but I don't think anything was wrong with your Pixel 7 Pro device.

Besides, Google Fi runs on T-Mobile also... If your home/location has terrible T-Mobile reception, doubt your new Galaxy S23 Ultra will really help. Good luck with everything though (hope I'm wrong with my assumptions)
Thanks.
Yes, bought it unlocked from the google store with trade-in offer deals. Didn't know about missing tmobile bands on the unlocked one. Tmobile has lots of towers where I live (in NYC), even more after their merger with Sprint. I used to be able to catch a great signal even in subway stations during the stops, but not anymore. Now after exiting the station, I have to toggle airplane mode a couple of times in order to get a connection, and it disappears for no reason whatsoever. I've tried limiting it to LTE, etc. Sometimes one of my Tmo eSims gets 5G, but another one doesn't. Its all very strange. Since this s23u is from Google and they are on Tmo, maybe it will have all the bands.

1. Can I format or erase to factory settings the s23 ultra?
2. Do I have to install the fi app again if I format?
Dude do you ever do any research on your own? Everything you have asked for weeks has been discussed multiple times. You come across as the laziest person in this thread. Quit trying to have people constantly hold your hand and DO SOME RESEARCH.

I don't think you can add trade in after ordering, but you can ask Fi support. Be aware that the trade in values were reduced significantly on Feb 6th. For example, an iPhone11 was $310, but reduced to $85. The values listed in the Wiki are no longer valid.

Had a very pleasant trade in experience with Google FI!

Trade in delivered on March 13th and my worry was that I had accidently selected 256 GB Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra as the trade in instead of 128 GB. Had a chat at the time with Google Support and they stated it would not be an issue as it would be valued accordingly (128 GB and 256 GB had a trade in for $420 at the time).

In spite of that re assurance, wrote a letter with a copy of the chat transcript and included that in the trade in box for good measure. Today at around 7 AM EST got an email saying it was received and that a refund of $420 was issued. Now at total peace! Smilie

Question for those who are familiar with Google bill credits:
If I buy the S23U and sign up for Google Fi now, I will get $25 monthly bill credit for 24 months. Do I have to use the same phone during the entire promotion period of 24 months to receive the full credit? I am not planning to leave Fi, I just do not want to use the same phone for 2 years. In other words, can I still keep the monthly credits if I buy a new S24U to replace the S23U next year?
My understanding from the T&C is yes, but when I asked a Google ref over the phone, she said no. The rep said I will loose the monthly credits if I change the phone.
Can someone please confirm? Thanks.

You can only use the phone that you signed up with, inserting your google fi Sim into any other phone will void the promotion and you will lose the credits

Won't be an issue for me. I don't keep Data turned on with my phones. So even if the S23 drops WiFi, it won't be able to use Data without me knowing about it.
Ditto, my S23 is a home wifi device only for a couple months. I have a Eero Wifi6 Mesh Router piggy backing on my standard issue Frontier Router.. The S23 is set up on the Eero wifi6, but on a couple occasions I have found that the phone was logged into my old Frontier 5ghz network. Not sure, but maybe the Eero router dropped out and the S23 automatically moved over to my 5ghz router?? Who knows?

If your S23 was ever connected to your 5GHz router and Auto Reconnect was selected, then it would switch to the 5GHz router if it dropped from the Wifi6. I have one router (2.4 and 5G) and an extender (2.4 and 5G), so there are 4 connecting points available. If one doesn't work, it goes to the next one.

Thanks. That's a dumb policy. Why would they care, as long as I still pay for the plan.

Placed two S23-Ultra orders in February.
I shipped my trade-in devices on 03/07, which were both successfully delivered on 03/13.

Received email/confirmation that one trade-in has been successfully processed. Will see refund on my CC in 2 to 3 days

The other trade-in device (iPhone-11) still says "Waiting for device" in Google Fi page.
Received email confirmation that second (iPhone-11) trade-in device was received & evaluated at $310 as promised... Good deal OP! Peace

I am having two issues with my S234 Ultra; hoping someone can help.

1. I copied everything over from my S22 Ultra, but for some reason on my S23 Ultra the Samsung Calendar is active and notifying me (I do not use it as the native calendar) double on everything. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn off notifications. When I go to the app settings, the toggle for turning off notifications is greyed out.

2. I have an issue with my phone handing off from my home WiFi to a data connection. I leave my house and then have no data. I have to toggle Airplane mode, which is annoying. It doesn't happen all of the time, just some.

Any thoughts?

Got the S23 U today but my Google Fi promo is showing up as:

A new Fi member activated the device. Activate the device on a current Fi member by Apr 12 to qualify for promo

I had an existing Google Fi account. All I did was move my number from my old phone to the new phone with the sim card that came with the S23U. Why am I getting this message? I am an existing customer with a single line. THis makes no sense.

How long ago did you activate your S23U? Sometimes the Fi tracking gives that erroneous message. I got that message with one of my S22's that I bought as an existing member, and the phone was still in the sealed box when I got that message. Once I activated the phone, the next day the message disappeared.

When you activated your 23U using the Fi app, did it say your service was on another phone and asked you for the OK to transfer service OK? Did you happen to take a screenshot of that? If you did, that's your proof that you did it correctly. Contact Fi support and ask them to straighten it out.
