Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

I ordered them for $600 per phone, but financed that with Google for 24mo.
I think the sole purpose for financing is that you have to stay with them. But when you leave or cancel the service, the entire balance will need to be paid in full.

Service cancelled, see you next February google fi (maybe). Crazy how wireless taxes in texas make a 20 dollar bill 30 now. Went with the S23 base and haven't regretted it, although just paying 300 more for the s23 ultra 12gb ram 512gb version was a better deal.

I like smaller phones for daily carry, so went with the base S23. For myself, I wouldn't have gotten an S23+ or S23U even for the same cost as a base S23.

Do you think the S23 base is comparable to the A54 in daily performance & battery life?

Besides other phones, I have the A54, S22, and S23. The S22 is my main phone. The Metro A54 was used a little bit for one month then put away. Same with the Fi S23. So I can't really comment much on their battery life. I'm retired, at home most of the time and don't use my phone much. Battery life FOR ME means how long a charge takes to go from 100% down to 20% when I recharge it. With the S22 and S23, that seems to be 7-8 days. With the A54, that seems to be 8-9 days, slightly better.

Performance wise, the S23 is no doubt the fastest phone of the three. You can see the comparisons of test scores here: https://www.gsmarena.com/compare....one3=12082

I ran GeekBench (Version 6) tests on my phones (exept the S23) and the S22 was much faster than the A54. Logically, the S23 would have higher scores than the S22.

Thanks for the detailed comparison. I'm looking to replace my daily driver and was advised against the base S23 by some of my friends who are die hard Samsung users.

I'm always near a charger and the Metro A54 didn't impress me as much. Also I'm not a fan of flashing these carrier phones with Samsung Generic UI once Unlocked. Another issue with Metro phones is you have to agree to their ridiculous privacy policy before you can login to the app.

Your friends advised against the S23 on what basis? performance, battery life, etc?

Anyone know what time of day they update the bonus count down? Or is it based on when you activated?

I activated most of my Fi phones around 5PM Central Time, and my countdown counters are usually updated between 5PM and 5:30PM.

Mainly battery life, camera & RAM. They have been hardcore Note/Ultra fans for a long time.
