Is this purely for cars? Is there any other practical use?

Can be used for polishing anything - if you're high-glossing furniture, metal, etc.

It is not made for stripping paint etc.

I see they also sell a 15mm version.

I have the 7" variable speed polisher and it works well but don't use it much.

What's the difference?

I have the same one, main difference is that the ones here are orbital and you have a lesser chance of messing up the paint on your vehicle if you are not doing it properly.

That's a variable speed polisher only.only spins.the one in the deal has a random orbital action in addition to just spinning

You have to be very careful with a non random orbit polisher.

For years, Milwaukee didn't even have a viable random orbit tool. Makita used to be a favorite for car buffs. I guess that's changing.

No need for the variable speed polisher if I buy the 21mm? I guess the 15mm would be better for smaller areas. Can I use the Milwaukee pads I have for my 7" on the 21mm? I do have a problem collecting team red power tools lol

That's not REALLY how it works.

The 21mm is the throw of the device. You get more work out of the 21mm. As far as working area? It's a 6mm difference. So very little. But over the distance of vehicle it can save time exponentially.

Ordered with the hack yesterday. Home Depot did the hack for me, and canceled the battery but kept the polisher at the discounted rate
