fyi - boostmobile unlocks after 12 months
YMMV, obviously, but I ordered two of these and both are unlocked. I have not yet activated the Boost lines that came with these.

Note that one has a 3rd party battery, as I got the warning, and the other has battery health of 83%. I'm guessing they replace the battery if health is less than 80%.

I don't think there was a color option; both phones I got are black.

I set up both phones on wi-fi before inserting a sim card and checked the sim status in the settings. Then I inserted a non-Boost sim to test. I tested with Cricket and Mint sims and both worked fine.

The bodies of each had minor scuffs and scratches, with the screens in very good condition. Screens also appeared to be original, as the "true tone" option is available on both. Face ID worked fine on both as well.

They came in plain white boxes with a Boost sticker on top and had an OEM usb-a lightning cable with a generic charging brick. (if it's not an OEM cable, it sure looks and feels like one)

$100 is a killer deal for a used, unlocked iPhone Xr, and this one includes 3 months of coverage.
Metro deal requires porting over from another carrier, also need to go to store can't order online, and most stores add extra fees like activation/tax on original price, meanwhile this deal can be ordered online, includes 3 months of service, and you don't need to port

Boost Mobile will put auto pay on. Nowhere under account can turn it off. Either call Boost to cancel/turn off auto pay, or add a new payment method then delete the old.
Or use a one time card... or use paypal and turn off recurring payments to boost.

Anyone knows the battery condition of these types of reconditioned phone?
Apple used to have new battery on their refurbished phones.

I've been looking for a phone so I can let my kids stay home alone. This looks like the cheapest option and will allow me to have parental controls on it.

Thanks

Be careful with Boostmobile, they tried to turn on automatic payment charged using your initial payment methods when you buy/activate your number/plan.
In my case, I've tried to activate and used 1 number for 3 month when my friend is around and he need a simcard as a tourist, Boostmobile keeps charging me another periods of that account after that and i did not know until I have to chat with CSR to turn the automatic payment/withdraw off from my account and call to close/terminate that number. So, just my 2cents in case you want to use it only for 3months, remember to chat with them and remove your payment method initially to avoid further charge later and you may not get the refund on it.

The renewed devices might actually be unlocked since they are renewed. I bought a renewed 11 from a local store and it was unlocked but I don't know if all of these devices are

FYI, boost mobile makes it incredibly hard to port out. They will make you call to get your account number, and most of the times you would need to be on hold for upwards of an hour. Then you also need to make sure you have active service at the time of port out and have details of your usage, such as call logs/message logs from the Boost phone number for verification. They say this is for "security", but it is honestly to tire you out and give up.

I've ported out a bunch of boost mobile numbers in the last couple of months. Never had a problem. I minor bit of trying to sell me on staying, but they're polite and it takes less than 5 minutes to get the info.

Confirmed. Autopay is on by default and take 5mins to cancel through chat.
Account number and Pin (not sure for port out purpose) can be obtained through account setting.
