It is a good tool for specific need. I bought a no name one a couple years ago. Never used it and don't know where I put it. I ended up free handed one project because I couldn't find it when I needed it!

Well dang it, another thing I didn't know I wanted. I feel like I'd use it once for a diy project and feel like it was absolutely worth it lol. BOUGHT.

It's more of you want to copy something. If your a wood worker and you don't want to free hand something this could come in handy for laying it on a piece and then laying it on say a sheet of ply wood. Tracing it and then using the trace as a guide in a band saw or jig saw or even a router table. It's basically just an easier way than free handing the trace and hoping it comes out good though depends on how large the piece is as well I guess.

Not speaking about this exact item however are these contour 'gauges' actually useful real world? Other than doing tile, hardwoods, etc I'm not sure I could picture much of a reason to use one however my lack of imagination doesn't mean these aren't the best thing since they invented sliced wheels.

Sounds like a couple people are in need of a few things they " didn't need " a toolbox with shadow lining the tool trays for one or some pegboard with shadow outline of tools or an old dresser/ filing cabinet just a place for everything and then make sure everything goes back in its place. I get more excited about reorganizing my tools and having a " display " place for the guys in the neighborhood to come and ooooh and awwww over. Am I right fellas & lady(ies)?
