According to Walmart, once assembled this blanket weighs 8 ounces; I think it's wise to hold out for something a bit heavier... ;^)

Anyone know how this compares to this Bidderford? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BSVJC...tails&th=1

I was watching the Bidderford for a bit (full size) and jumped on it when the price dropped to $56 last week (was hovering around $100 prior). I get that the Bidderford is Full vs the Queen in this OP, but either size would work for me. I haven't opened it yet so I can still return it.

My wife has gone through well over a dozen heating blankets over the last decade. She uses them in our bedroom, living room, her dressing room and office. We've had a few Beautyrest, several Sunbeam and probably the plurality of them have been Biddeford. They all work comparably and last about a year or two with heavy use. Putting them in the washing machine is the most common way my wife kills them off, but sometimes even hand washing is enough to break them. They'll also break on their own over time. The nice thing about queen and king size heating blankets is that they have two heating elements, one on each side. One side will break first, but you can still use the other side.

My advice is to get the lowest priced heating blanket because no brand heats better or lasts longer than any other.

We've done the same. I just bought square trade policies for them and when they died, i made a claim. Most last about a year, although you might get 2 years. Always a good time when the controller gives off that electric smoke smell when they die.

Not quite true, but I thought the same at one point. I've been using this Bedsure fleece for a while now and it's literally the best I've ever had. Looks great and incredibly soft and gets super hot.I haven't had a single issue yet. Though I've been avoiding the dreaded and inevitable wash. But it's also cheaper than this Beautyrest. Sunbeam is garbage. Check out the reviews on the Bedsure and you'll find most people haven't had any issues: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...=UTF8&th=1

Haha yeah I'm very familiar with that smell. Consider two years aspirational.

Back when we first started buying heating blankets we would occasionally get one replaced via the manufacturer warranty, but it's been several years since I've been enterprising enough to go down the warranty route.

The idea of having an enlightening warm life via one of these is tempting but waking up to see my torso and hand melt in fiery flames keeps my hopes of that type of intimacy at bay.

I've run into the same issue. I have gotten some off-brands at Ocean State job lot that are a lot cheaper and last a lot longer. Do you have any near you? I would suggest if possible that she uses it on her bed as the middle layer. the top sheet on her body, a heated blanket in the middle, and comforter/quilt or whatever on top. It heats quickly, prevents it from needing to constantly be washed, and the comforter keeps the heat in.

A duvet cover may also be the best idea I like your idea of layers between the blanket and the body. This will also prevent frequent washings and prolong the life of the blanket. I haven't tried it but I'm new to the use of a heated blanket. Sending warm thoughts.
