Thats like the definition of it. Thats like saying beware, this laser printer uses toner and not ink.

I bought the color version of this printer 3 years ago, refurbished. it's been the best printer I've ever bought. takes 3rd party cartridge from eBay well, saves so much money on ink since there were months that I printed thousands of pages.

it also scans well. Wi-Fi works well. best printer I've ever owned!

Terrible printer, worst OS ever. Super heavy and sometimes does not take 3rd party ink.

I just placed an order I was confusing between this model and brother mcf l2750dwb model which cost ~300$

Bummer, was hoping to get a new one that does fax-to-email or fax-to-network folder.

It sounds like Canon updates the firmware to combat 3rd party toner, and you have to get newer versions of 3rd party toner for it to work?

The color version is $229 at Walmart. It's been in and out of stock for a month now. But if you can wait, it's probably worth it.

It depends on the toner - some work - some work sometimes. Its a toss up. I get my ink from either AMazon or eBay. Maybe you'll be fine.

I bought the mf644cdw a few years ago. I love it. I dont print a lot. But it was a refurb for like $240 shipped with 2 extra sets of inks. (Still haven't finished the original set).

It's been great, prints nice, scans like it should. I like that it's wireless, color and duplex.

Haven't had a single issue (knock on wood)

I have this exact printer and it's the best printer i've owned. No issues, super fast prints and excellent quality... Plus i never need to think about it as i rarely print and the included ink lasts for like ~3000 pages or something. I recommend it over any inkjet printer.
