I paid only one month of service, and let it sit in the box. It's automatically unlocked 180 days later.

Am I the only one terrified of going into a metro store. Have read so many horror stories of mangers making up their own rules (requiring insurance, buying cases, requiring 3 months of service)

Could you share where? I'm actually on my iPhone 11 I got last time and it should be unlocked but I don't see that by searching settings for sim.

ETA is that the carrier lock in general/about?
Mine says no sim restrictions? Is that what it should say if it's unlocked?
Yes "no sim restrictions" means exactly that, that you can use any carrier sim in it, otherwise it will say "sim-locked"

Last the corporate store in Dallas called the number that was being ported to see if its active. Apparently they said people are buying numbers from eBay and selling these phones for a profit and they are just making sure they are giving the promo phones to legitimate customers. I am like bitch you are acting like you/MetroPCS is doing a favor to people. Then they added the insurance even though I didn't want it, then they wanted me to buy overpriced case and screen protector. It was a terrible experience overall after everything said and I think I paid something like $200 because the phone was $50+$60 plan +$10 insurance+20 activation + taxes. Bought the $30 case because they were so pushy. I traded the phone in for the pixel 7 so it was overall still profitable but man not going to deal with this ever again. And forgot they also took my DL and entered it in the system or may be seem like it and said we are now keeping track of promos per household and can only give one per 6 months!!

🤔I don't get how that works? How do you know if it's unlocked? If it's not, what is your recourse since you didn't have active service for the last 5 months?
Do you have documentation that supports this? I'd like to read "the fine print" no other carrier will let you get a phone locked that hasn't had service for the minimum amount of time.
I reported my own experience. You only have to pay for one month of service. You bought iPhone 11 from them 8 months ago. Your phones should be unlocked too.

4 years when it unlocks Smilie Still, lots of opportunities to get way more than $60 trading it in, so worth it.

It will be much more than $60. They will require the $60 plan + $20 fee + tax on the full price of the phone. At this point I only do online deals, like the G Stylus 5G for only $40 plan. Waiting for that deal to come back.

YMMV. Don't have experience with iPhones, but last year I purchased several A53s at the local corporate store and all I had to pay was $50 for the phone, $40 plan and $20 activation. Only had to pay tax on $50, but that's state-dependent.

Does metro really require 180 days ,6 months now unlock time. I've had metro before I recall 90 days … 3 months unlock time. Can anyone confirm the 180 days written in policy ?

I thought corp were supposed to be better vs authorized retailer but about the same?!

I only have one experience with corp store a while back and it was ok overall, nothing close to what you described...

Possibly available at authorized retailers too? Or corporate stores only?

Have an authorized Metro store here but no corporate stores within 200 miles… would love an 11 to tide me over until the better iPhone deals drop later in the year.
