I paid only one month of service, and let it sit in the box. It's automatically unlocked 180 days later.

Am I the only one terrified of going into a metro store. Have read so many horror stories of mangers making up their own rules (requiring insurance, buying cases, requiring 3 months of service)

They told me out of pocket around $160 something. I tried 2 different stores in Indiana and got the same answer. Must pay full price MSRP tax
Check my recent comment. They just don't know about the deal. Tell them to process it, and it will come up as the OP described.

First they tried to get me to pay $49 for each phone, then they tried to tell me that my port in number was ineligible for port in so the price was now $249 for each phone. This hook and bait, and deceptive marketing practices will be reported to Corporate
Read my recent comment. They aren't trying to screw you, they just don't know/are ignorant. Plus, for some reason they looked down on me when I was getting the deal. It's like they looked at me like at a thief. Weird people.

Even the 2 managers on duty were ignorant, they said they would try searching on their "hub" for the promotion I'd it was there they would do it. When they tried starting the transaction they asked for the number to be ported, GV number came on their system as Bandwidth.com and they said this phone number is ineligible the $499 rebate will not apply to the transaction and they say I needed to pay $249 for each phone, I spent 3 hours at this store. No misinformation here, just true ignorance by all employees at this store.

Oh yes, I remember them saying bandwidth thing. At the end of the day, I don't blame them that much tbh. Given what they are paid, I don't really expect them to stay on top of all the deals and all the details. One thing I expect them though is to be respectful and they certainty weren't, neither in my case nor yours, it seems. The good thing is that they don't have much room to manually modify this deal. Right before it's processed, they see the total that the system gives them. So perhaps in your case, they were making up stories and didn't bother actually trying to process the transaction. For if they did, they wouldn't have tried to sell you this bs as you described.

GV works 100% so if you're unsure about Boost, just port it in to GV, and then pay $3 and port it out from GV lol

Corp or dealer? Where? Without context, this is pretty much useless info. Or just bragging.

I have to keep my GV number as is.

If you port out from Metro, does the phone still unlock?

Forget about authorized dealers. The only 'relatively easy' was of getting the deal is corp. Plus, $69 sounds feasible if they are waiving activation today. In fact, the fella might have overpaid cause the $9 is insurance I guess, and there's no tax, so if they waive activation, you should pay exactly $60 today for this deal.

That's a million dollar question haha. But that's what I'm betting on - that it will unlock without continuous service. 95% of people report that it will unlock after 180 days no matter if you port out or continue the service etc.

IMPORTANT FOR THOSE WHO WERE TOLD THE PHONE IS $49 OR THAT YOU NEED TO PAY TAX ON FULL MSRP.

I went to a corporate store in PA. They told me the phone is $49 and it will be credited to my account after 3 months of service. They said the tax on iPhone will be about $60 (on full MSRP) and they said ~$160 OTD per piece. I was like whatever, since I already came here, I will take it, given that trade in at Apple is $200 anyway. So I requested two lines.

The lady started processing the transaction and she was like - wtf the phone is $0! All the workers were confused but thing is - whatever they tell you, has no bearing, it's the system in corporate stores that dictates the conditions of the deal. And yeah, tax was $0 because the price of the phone is $0.

My total bill came up to $153.52 for two phones. They did something funky I guess because the prices of the lines were $69 (nice) and $39, so I guess they added insurance? Anyway, whatever, it's a great deal still.

So guys, stop spreading misinformation. The deal is real and it works in corporate stores.

Plus, they said Google voice isn't eligible. Well, I told them to put it in the system and it worked. and I unlocked it while being at the store so the process is immediate.

Good luck.
I agree that what some folks here experienced early on could very well have been due to ignorance of the employees. I know that the store I went to still has placards everywhere for the previous deal (iPhone 11 for $49). But yes, insist that they try processing the transaction. Just make sure that they select the $60/mo plan - if they select a lesser plan only the $250 rebate will show up in their system.
