Because running shoes that are made out of leather are lightweight, flexible and breathable? You clearly don't run. There are reasons why Adidas, Nike, Asics, etc. select the certain materials for running sneakers.

Checked it out on some other shoes than above listed. Not every shoe is qualified and if it works, it's just around 23% off. Still, best promo time was 2 weeks before last year's BF.

I don't trust the leather on almost all running shoes. I can't stand ones without at least a strip of rubber on the soles though. Everyone has their shoe standard.

Being recycled is not the issue. Gore Tex has some customers but not whole lot.
