I have 27" WQHD and 4K monitors, and have had a 32" 4K monitor (all 16:9.) I'd much rather have the 5k 40", which has an option of upscaling if you need to. A 1440p 38" display sounds like a big downgrade from that.

if the 40BP95C is the business model w/ 3 yr warranty
and 40WP95C is the consumer one with 1 yr
then, how come 40BP95C is usually hundreds of bucks cheaper than 40WP95C?
anyone can explain that

The consumer one will drop in price below the business one soon. This happens a lot with their monitors.

Poster comparing the 38" LG 38WN95C to this 40".
"Both monitors I use a default scaling. But the 40" default scaling is way to small to practically use on things you can't 2 finger zoom in on (like slack, Apple Music) or things you can't use cmd + "+" to up the font size (like VS Code).
Unfortunately 3rd party resolution software will probably be needed on the 40". Because the native system preferences scaling options need an option between the default scaling and one step down from default scaling. The one step down from default scaling makes things a little too large for my liking.
The 38" surprisingly had perfect native resolution for me. I could read the text from apps like slack and activity monitor perfectly.
As for gaming I only have the MacBook so until native games start coming out I probably won't be gaming on it. I'm too lazy to install parallels or crossover lol. Fingers crossed app just buys a game developer or becomes a game developer sometime soon.
For software def this screen is perfect! My eyes get strained at the end of my work days or when it's 2am I'm on a monitor with a lot of backlight bleed. The LG 40" definitely takes a noticeable step toward suppressing backlight bleed and making blacks look more black instead of backlight induced grey-ish blacks. If you like the way the m1 max/pro MacBook Pro screen looks then this LG is the only LG I've owned that has been able to give you an easy on the eyes experience. I won't go so far to say it's a fully mini-led experience but for sure you will notice that the nano-IPS experience is starting to have some small overlaps with mini-led."

Also for remote desktop apps that some people like I use for remote work they are limited to 3840x2160. So having 3840x1620 is literally the best possible option to maximize screen content and resolution
Also for gamers 38" ultrawides have 144hz refresh rate vs 72hz. Big difference and you are not waisting resolution trying to drive a retina image.
