This is a really good drive. The SSD price is crushing, so I'll wait another month.

Is this the same architecture as the 990pro that has rapid wear issues?

This is much better than a Tesla SSD for your Sentry Mode if you need a durable cool SSD for storing all those dashcam clips

no - this is essentially the same as the rest of the T7 line, just a higher capacity

2TB ranges just above and below a hundo, so triple that is pathetic for 4TB.
Where are you seeing that? I see 170 for the 2tb

I've been eyeing the 4TB, this is a pretty good price.

Does anybody know if the Shield model has the same issue as the regular T7, where a waxy substance would leak out of the enclosure after some time? My T7 started having this issue a year after I bought it.

You are incorrect about those prices by a wide margin.

Are you comparing bargain internal Microcenter SSDs to shielded external Samsung top-spec SSDs?

Bought one of the 2TB ones just a few weeks back. At first I was very disappointed because the speeds were atrocious taking minutes to load a few gigabytes of data from it. Then I realized the USB-C port I plugged it into was a USB-C Audio port that apparently runs at USB 2 speeds instead of USB 3.2. Once I stopped being stupid and moved it to the other port that actually operates at it's rated speed it's been fantastic. Works great for those who are playing around with things like AI generated art and it's many multi-gig models and need a bit of extra SSD space. On the proper connector models load in seconds and I really can't tell the difference between running locally on my standard Windows desktop or running Pop OS exclusively off of this external drive.
