Metro will activate the SIM within 2 weeks of your delivery date, but I don't think it will automatically activate your phone/trigger the device's internal unlock counter. You have to install the SIM and turn on the phone for that. I noticed my phone's unlock date was exactly 181 days after I put my SIM into the phone and not when the SIM was activated two weeks prior, so it was a good thing I put it into my phone before the first month was over. Might've had to pay for another month and start the counter from there.

Can confirm that I only spent money on the first month and kept it in a drawer afterwards for exactly 180 days after my SIM activated, but it said I wasn't eligible for a unlock until about 2 weeks later after that (180 days after I finally turned the phone on with the SIM inside). Bought this phone back in June (with the deal at discounted price with first month, not this better deal at free with first month) and unlocked just about 2 weeks ago.

The unlock setting (built into the phone, not a separate app) gives a very distinct, red X with message saying that I didn't reach the requisite 180 days to unlock the device, but that message about the 180 days disappeared after waiting a few weeks longer and in its place was a link to try a 'permanent unlock', which worked.

Can't type it here. Google it. Let's just say "Very messed up" to reword it.

Does anyone know of a good, cheap SIM unlock service for these? I got mine in November and love the phone but I'd like to start using it with a SIM if the price is right.

on the A14, go to Apps in settings, scroll to Network unlock and click on it, then click open in bottom left...

N20: go to settings, about device, unlock is at the bottom
On A14 it is settings --> connections --> more connection settings --> network unlock --> permanent unlock (this is what u press after 180 days to request unlock)

The last Motorola I got from T-Mobile is garbage. Can't play a single Game. Barely works at all. Is this worth getting or should I just get a good note 20 Ultra

Good phone overall, got it for 150 over Fi, for 40$ it's a no brainer. Good screen, good camera and decent CPU/Ram combo. Didn't like the size and the weight (too big to fit the pocket), plus it didn't fit well my car mount Horrible charging speed, Motorola has definitely lost me there. Again, great looking phone with the pen that comes in handy just don't expect Note level of experience.

Pretend I am not too smart....
I buy this and put it in a drawer. 6 months later, it is unlocked and can be used on ATT. Is that right?
Few small steps, activate the phone. Send a few text msg and make a few calls. Then turn it off and put in your drawer. For 180 days

It's out of stock.
They 'purposely' removed the "add to cart" and only show the "Find Store" button.
It's $60 if you buy it at the store

Not to be offensive to you with this question, but would you mind quoting your source of this closing the loophole on the N200 please?.I spent this morning searching for confirmation that the N200 would work on the T-mobile network from day 1 and I found some posts confirming it would, but I did not come across anyone saying they have recently closed the loophole....so do you have personal experience of this or any link to where you saw this in a discussion thread recently?
Many thanks
This is my personal experience. I own multiple N200s ..the older batch IMEI starts with 99xx17, working with T-Mobile SIM and tzone (purchased almost a year ago). New N200 IMEI starts from 99xx18 (few months ago), no luck with TMobile SIM, so I guess the loophole got closed... newer phones do not prompt the the SIM locked/restricted with T-Mobile SIM, sometime seems to have signal but cannot do anything , using manual network search only can see T-Mobile 2G signal, put Metro SIM back, everything becomes fine...

Thanks for this info. I'm curious…you've got a few N200's but now you know newer orders can't benefit from the use of the main TMobile network from day one, if you needed another phone today, would you get another N200 for the $40 for the first month or the galaxy a23 for $50? Thanks for your insight (I just ordered the N200 an hour before you replied to me Frown )

If I need a new phone I'd like to get OnePlus N20 or this moto Stylus G 5G (all are same price if the online in stock) . I am not fan for Samsung A series phone. Wish you get a N200 which can work with T-Mobile SIM out of box .
