Metro will activate the SIM within 2 weeks of your delivery date, but I don't think it will automatically activate your phone/trigger the device's internal unlock counter. You have to install the SIM and turn on the phone for that. I noticed my phone's unlock date was exactly 181 days after I put my SIM into the phone and not when the SIM was activated two weeks prior, so it was a good thing I put it into my phone before the first month was over. Might've had to pay for another month and start the counter from there.

Can confirm that I only spent money on the first month and kept it in a drawer afterwards for exactly 180 days after my SIM activated, but it said I wasn't eligible for a unlock until about 2 weeks later after that (180 days after I finally turned the phone on with the SIM inside). Bought this phone back in June (with the deal at discounted price with first month, not this better deal at free with first month) and unlocked just about 2 weeks ago.

The unlock setting (built into the phone, not a separate app) gives a very distinct, red X with message saying that I didn't reach the requisite 180 days to unlock the device, but that message about the 180 days disappeared after waiting a few weeks longer and in its place was a link to try a 'permanent unlock', which worked.

One additional question if you have time: Being the unlock setting isn't a separate app, does one find the unlock toggle in the phone settings, and if so where? I have plenty of time being just notified that my Moto will arrive tomorrow - thank you Smilie

Where do you find the "internal unlock counter" on the phone? Thanks.
The option to check for unlocking is in Settings > About Phone > scroll down to Device Details category and look for 'Device Unlock'. If you click on that, it'll check some sort of internal data and tell you if your phone has or has not yet met the prerequisites to unlock. Unfortunately, there's no exact number of days, so just have to check back on it if you think your unlock date is coming up.

This unlock setting applies for the Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 version updated to its current, official Android version at the time, so not sure if it applies to other Metro phones and/or not being updated moves this setting around. Other phones might utilize some sort of pre-installed Metro app, but didn't have that option at all, from what I could tell.

I also don't know if checking too often will lock you out of unlocking (was mentioned someplace when I was looking for info), but I checked like once almost everyday for two weeks). YMMV.

Ordered 2/16 received 2/20
$40 out the door

Next payment due in 25 days - maybe due to February being shorter month
Autopay was OFF automatically
No payment saved on file either

Phone has solid weight (battery is impressive so far!) and performing as-expected. Camera won't win any awards. Uninstalled the intrusively installed apps (tiktok, facebook, and some others)

Slippery finger-print magnet but thin width makes large screen easy enough to hold.
Ordered this case from amzn:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09TFVLWTY

I ended up ordering a Oneplus Nord N200 to use with T-Mobile. The phone was shipped by T-Mobile and came with a T-Mobile R15 sim card. I had to call in to activate the sim card with an existing number (since it's replacing an e-sim), but otherwise had no issues getting the N200 to immediately work on T-Mo.

I was able to do that before even setting up my Metro account.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you end up with a t mobile sim being enclosed with your phone? I ordered a new n200 from metro on Friday evening and it arrived today but the SIM card is purple with a large m on it for metro. On the first order screen I chose new number (not keep an existing number). By the sounds of it you chose the keep your existing number option - am I right? Thank you

Thanks for the details. Phone is arriving today, so I'll activate and put Aug 21 on google calendar to try to unlock.

I just received the phone today. Put the SIM card into the phone and powered it up. The phone will recognize the Metro network, but at this point is not activated yet. Went to the Metro website to try to activate it, but of course I don't have the phone number to login.

A quick search through my emails, I found one from Metro which was sent to me when they shipped the phone. In that email there is a link to a webpage to track the shipping (the link to Metro's website, not to UPS). If you click on that and scroll all the way to the bottom, you'll find a ACTIVATE button. Click on this button, and it will activate the phone.

Now you just have to wait a few minutes and restart your phone. In my case I restarted it a couple of times with about ~ 5-10min wait. Voila the phone is now active and the phone number is listed under settings. Hope this help someone.
Thanks. I didn't have a phone nbr either. My 2nd email "good news your order has shipped" had the link, click on tracking number, then put in your order # and zip code, then the next page has activate at the bottom. I'll give it a try when the phone arrives tday.

Anker, yes. Aukey, no. It was kicked off Amazon for mega-incentivized fake reviews. And their stuff is crap. I speak from experience.
I have several Aukey chargers and cables and they have all been good and still work.
It's probably a quality control problem and I got the good ones.

Which is why I use credit cards, and not Paypal or similar, to buy stuff. Disputes are far easier, faster, and more effective. The chances are the company won't respond and the charge will be reversed.

Hahaha. No comment. You literally answered yourself. If you want to buy online, where do think you can buy it?

Why I can't buy online. For new numbers also, do we have to go to store to buy this one?
