Metro will activate the SIM within 2 weeks of your delivery date, but I don't think it will automatically activate your phone/trigger the device's internal unlock counter. You have to install the SIM and turn on the phone for that. I noticed my phone's unlock date was exactly 181 days after I put my SIM into the phone and not when the SIM was activated two weeks prior, so it was a good thing I put it into my phone before the first month was over. Might've had to pay for another month and start the counter from there.

Can confirm that I only spent money on the first month and kept it in a drawer afterwards for exactly 180 days after my SIM activated, but it said I wasn't eligible for a unlock until about 2 weeks later after that (180 days after I finally turned the phone on with the SIM inside). Bought this phone back in June (with the deal at discounted price with first month, not this better deal at free with first month) and unlocked just about 2 weeks ago.

The unlock setting (built into the phone, not a separate app) gives a very distinct, red X with message saying that I didn't reach the requisite 180 days to unlock the device, but that message about the 180 days disappeared after waiting a few weeks longer and in its place was a link to try a 'permanent unlock', which worked.

2. Don't throw away 1. brown box 2. brown inner padding (SIM card inside), 3. white returning label
Helpful post for many. Looks like packing material and can be easily overlooked. Kudos Applause

Has anybody activated their phone and popped in a sim from another carrier on the T-mobile network to see what happens?

If I give the phone to another person on Metro or sell it after it had been activated can they use it with their Metro sim? Like does Metro lock the phone to the sim it came with originally? Can I switch between 2 Metro sims with the same Metro phone?

Yep. T-Mobile didn't work for me. It's this phone on Wifi at home, and my old phone when going out, for 3 more months.

My T-Mobile sim (Magenta plan) does not work in my Moto G Stylus; I'm waiting for the unlock.

Is the metro site completely falling down and non-functional or am I missing something? Can't even get pages to load consistently and then when it finally does, it doesn't give me an option to add to cart.

5G is a almost a flop. If only they just improved 4G instead of wasting billions on 5G!

Not to mention all the fat phones with big batteries for 5G. Miss the easy to handle slim phones.

Dumb question. Where would I find the SIM card to put in the phone?

Thanks in advance.

Never mind. Found the additional cover and it was in it.

It's in an envelope inside the box besides the phone box

bump. I'm hoping someone can post some insight.
Also, has anyone used the Metro sim (from the 30-day promo) in a phone other than the promo phone?
