Metro will activate the SIM within 2 weeks of your delivery date, but I don't think it will automatically activate your phone/trigger the device's internal unlock counter. You have to install the SIM and turn on the phone for that. I noticed my phone's unlock date was exactly 181 days after I put my SIM into the phone and not when the SIM was activated two weeks prior, so it was a good thing I put it into my phone before the first month was over. Might've had to pay for another month and start the counter from there.

Can confirm that I only spent money on the first month and kept it in a drawer afterwards for exactly 180 days after my SIM activated, but it said I wasn't eligible for a unlock until about 2 weeks later after that (180 days after I finally turned the phone on with the SIM inside). Bought this phone back in June (with the deal at discounted price with first month, not this better deal at free with first month) and unlocked just about 2 weeks ago.

The unlock setting (built into the phone, not a separate app) gives a very distinct, red X with message saying that I didn't reach the requisite 180 days to unlock the device, but that message about the 180 days disappeared after waiting a few weeks longer and in its place was a link to try a 'permanent unlock', which worked.

I just got my phone, but how to cancel the autopay. I login to the My Metro app, it shows Your balance is due April 8th. Do I have to call in a day before to cancel it or it will auto charge me if I don't cancel the plan,?
Is the autopay selection turned on or off? If it's on turn it off

I'm going to sue Metro for not sending me an S23. They sent me an A23 instead. For $50 I expect unlimited toggling too. Where's FCC and Better Business Bureau. ACLU should also be notified. Furthermore, 6 month? The other company only requires two months to unlock. I'm going to seek legal advice with my attorney Karen. Let's all get together and sue. A slick deal class action suit.

Unless you turned it on, there is nothing to turn off.

Yup. There are so many whiners here about getting a $40 phone with no obligation. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)LMAO

I invite them to whine to their states' attorney's general and sue Metro to see how far they'll get. Hint: nowhere.

FAQ says: "when getting near the 180 day , have phone connected to wi-fi.
Try to unlock the device, once 1-2 days from day 180 onwards."

What's steps of "try to unlock"? is it automatically by system or I need to do somthing?
How to check if it's unlocked? just put another SIM? or I will receive message saying it's unlocked?

Just go to settings, search for "device unlock," and tap on that.

Lol. Good luck with that. Make sure you have the original deal screenshot that shows that it included hotspot, otherwise, you are SOL.
Data is data. Raise your hand if you know at the time of purchase that the data does not include HOTSPOT. If you paid for 2GB of data, why would you expect to receive 2GB of phone data but no HOTSPOT data? Why did Metro left out NO HOTSPOT data included with this $40 plan at the time of sale?

The $50 T Mobile home internet claims unlimited data with no speed guarantee. The user can pull data directly from the modem, or data from another router attached to the modem.

I had 1GB, 2G, and 4GB T Mobile data plan. T Mobile does not care if I pull data from my phone or PC. Same logic with ATT and Verizon.

And there are those who don't have balls to stand up for their rights. I filed two complaints against T Mo. Won both thanks to the FCC. Don't need luck if I have proof deceptive business practice.

Good luck getting your 10GB credited. My time is more valuable than that.

Because it is common knowledge that unless the plan say it has hotspot, it likely doesn't include hotspot. Been that way forever, so you must young.

Considering making use of it as a backup phone. What would be the best way to replicate or clone Android to Android apps and accounts into this G5 rather than transferring them? I'd like to create a Mirror of my current android phone and keep info/apps etc. in sync in between the two phones.

My old Gran Torino had a 150 MPH speedometer, but it had no chance of doing that unless I drove it off a cliff. I bet the guy would whine about that, too.
