I have this rice maker and I have used it hundreds of times. So far 0 problems with it. Just make sure you use a plastic spoon so you don't scrape the non stick surface of the bowl.
People who think that something made in one country is inherently better/justifiably pricier than something made in another country is the funniest thing.
Newsflash for ya. Just because the cost of production is higher in one country than the other, it doesn't automatically mean you will end up with a superior product. Believing cost always = quality is one of the easiest ways to get reamed as a consumer.
I've heard many horror stories of people buying something that was "Proudly Made In The USA" that ended up being several times costlier and was worse in quality than a comparable product that was made in China. Unless you have the evidence to back up your claims that the product made in China is worse, it just sounds like overt racism, which is ignorant at best.
I do agree that "Made in Japan" is better than "Made in China" even back to the days of the Nintendo Gameboy Color, the Japanese one was better quality. But with reputable brands like Nintendo and Zojirushi, the difference will be almost negligible and both will serve their purpose.

Zojirushi don't make them the same in China.
That's why it's inferior.
