I would recommend against buying any Docsis 3.0 modem in 2023; even a 16x4 modem is very dated compared to anything with D3.1, and obviously over the next couple years D4 will become more normal.

I'm not sure if any ISP's have completely stopped provisioning 16x4 modems, but that's going to happen eventually.

As far as the SB 6190, that modem contains the broken as fark puma 6 chipset and should absolutely not be used as certainly nobody should purchase it for any amount of money. At least the 6183 is a legitimately great modem, even if it's quite dated.

You can get a used SB6183 from ebay for like $15. I was able to get 470mbps from Xfinity on it.

I can get a similar speed from mine but would not by a Docsis 3.0 modem if I needed a new one. Even though it currently works on Xfinity, the website lists it as incompatible at the 400Mbps tier.

Yeah, I signed up for 300Mbps plan and they bumped me up to 400Mbps for free then got overprovisioned to 470Mbps. I guess I got lucky.
