While the flights have been cheap, the hotel prices are insane (600/night++) caveat emptor and all that.

You cannot camp on the beaches. There are plenty of campgrounds on Maui and a couple have bungalows to rent in addition to camp sites. If camping, highly suggest staying a couple nights in Hana, the campground is next to the 7 sacred pools and can walk to a black sand beach.

Yep, friends went for this past President's weekend. Paid $35o each for the flight but paid $1k a night at a hotel they've stayed at before for $350.

I need to fly to Hawaii in late July. Could anyone please let me know if the air ticket prices (to Hawaii) in July would be much more expensive than in May? Thanks!

Depend on where you are flying from, they will be expensive. My family was just looking and they were about $950 a pop.

Last time I was there, we saw people camping at Haleakala volcano, but they needed permits. We saw no beach campers.

yes, july is peak season, will be almost 3x the price and i'm not just talking about hawaii....most everywhere.

Dang, they set the market then. only way prices come down, we don't pay ridiculous amounts.
