So question.....if a person is starting with an Ender3 V2 and has added a BL touch bed level, how much of an upgrade is this?
I may get into other filaments at some point but I am mostly PLA and PLA+ right now.
My lab has 5 different 3d printers and I would personally avoid extruder printers. I like the Elegoo Mars, where you can get the V2 for $145. Prints are almost as high quality as our $50k commercial grade printer. We don't even use it anymore.
However, I only spend minimal time using them and I'm sure there are reasons why this model would be preferred to the Elegoo.

Don't agree 100%. Resin printers are known for detail but...dealing with resin, odors, fumes may not be the best for those starting out.
I started with an regular S1 and, once dialed in, is rock solid.

This is a major upgrade over the Ender 3 V2. The S1 Pro has the Sprite dual gear all metal extruder compared to the typical Bowden which helps with extrusion related issues. Also, higher filament compatibility, the CR touch auto-level is more accurate than the BL touch, Z-Axis dual screw and motors with the belt assist, touchscreen and filament sensor. I was going to go with the V2 but at this price I figured, I get all the upgrades that I would otherwise have done for cheaper when is all set and done.

Yep. I've got the OG Ender 3 Pro, it started out good, got "great" with upgrades (silent stepper motor drivers, heavier bed springs, along with some boxes for a raspberry Pi with Octoprint to be installed under the bed).
These look like they start out at "great" and don't leave a lot to be improved by inexpensive/printable upgrades. I'm pretty tempted by this because I've got 3 rolls of TPU filament I've never really been able to use since I don't have a direct extruder.
Edit: Damnit, Slickdeals... I bit. Looking forward to finally being able to print TPU, though!

Resin printers have their place for small detailed objects but also have a lot of drawbacks including UV resistance, material handling etc. I would not recommend resin for someone starting out and it may not be the right technology at all for most people depending on the application. I manage 14 printers across two locations and only one of them is resin.
Great deal! I just paid $431.10 on sale from MatterHackers about a month and a half ago. I am new to 3D printing and already knew there would be a learning curve. So, I chose this model because it has great reviews and all the bells and whistles from the ender 3 series. Didn't want to fight equipment while learning about 3D printing. Also, the linked video is incredibly helpful.
I already have a Mars 3 resin printer, but have always wanted an FDM printer like this. Is this one a good one to start with? Any better recommendations for this price or less? Just looking for something that'll allow me to print larger and stronger prints than resin, as resin is kind of fragile.

This is a great option if you want good results out of the box, and you don't want to have to mess around with tweaking/upgrading to get there.

I used this video about setup and assembly. Its long but pretty detailed.
